The Country Music Association Awards is a major awards show in country music, with the highest honor being the award for Entertainer of the Year. It is the final award presented at the ceremony. Garth Brooks has won the most awards with seven. In 1972, Loretta Lynn became the first female artist to be honored with this award. Barbara Mandrell became the first artist to win twice (1980, 1981). Taylor Swift is the only woman to win this award in the 2000s and 2010s. The Country Music Association (CMA) was founded in 1958 in Nashville, Tennessee. It originally consisted of 233 members and was the first trade organization formed to promote a music genre. The objectives of the organization are to guide and enhance the development of Country Music throughout the world; to demonstrate it as a viable medium to advertisers, consumers, and media; and to provide an unity of purpose for the Country Music industry. The 55th Annual Country Music Association Awards were held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The ceremony was hosted CMA Award winner Luke Bryan. Background After a video clip surfaced in early 2021 showing an inebriated Morgan Wallen using a racial slur the Country Music Association announced on May 21, 2021, that Wallen's 2021 CMA Awards eligibility will be limited to, “categories that honor artistic works (''Single'', ''Song'', ''Album'', ''Musical Event'', and ''Music Video of the Year'' categories), so as not to "limit opportunity for other credited collaborators," but the press release further states that Wallen will not be eligible in solo categories as ''Entertainer of the Year'' and ''Male Vocalist of the Year''. Morgan Cole Wallen (born May 13, 1993) is an American country singer and songwriter. He competed in the sixth season of ''The Voice'', originally as a member of Usher's team, but later as a member of Adam Levine's team.
