Country Estates, Inc. was a 20th Century American real estate development company. It developed many luxury housing developments on Long Island, New York and in South Florida. History Country Estates, Inc. was founded by Harry and Seymour Schwartz. The firm first began building developments in the Five Towns area of Long Island in the 1940s. In 1952, the firm developed a roughly 110-acre development called Delray Garden Estates in Delray Beach, Florida. In the mid-1950s, the firm began developing Roslyn Hills Country Estates (also known as Country Estates at East Hills) over Harbor Hill, the former estate of Clarence Mackay, in East Hills, New York. One home model in Roslyn Hills Country Estates, "The Influential," was cited as being the first circular luxury home model on the market and was protected by copyright. Clarence Mackay
Clarence Hungerford Mackay (; April 17, 1874 – November 12, 1938) was an American financier. He was chairman of the board of the Postal Telegraph and Cable Corporation and president of the Mackay Radio and Telegraph Company. Early life He was born on April 17, 1874 in San Francisco, California to Louise Antoinette (née Hungerford) Bryant Mackay (1843–1928) and John William Mackay. His father was a silver miner and telegraph mogul who had been born in Dublin and emigrated to America with his parents. Soon after arriving in America, John's father died, and John sold newspapers and got a shipyard job to support his mother and sister. Eventually, he went west, and with three partners, formed a mining corporation and discovered the " Big Bonanza" in Virginia City, Nevada, which became the largest single deposit of gold and silver ever found. Flower Hill is a village in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The eastern half is considered part of the Greater Roslyn area, which is anchored by the Incorporated Village of Roslyn. Hewlett is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 6,819 at the 2010 census. Hewlett is usually included as one of the Five Towns in the southwestern corner of Nassau County. Harbor Hill was a large Long Island mansion built from 1899–1902 in Roslyn, New York, for telecommunications magnate Clarence Hungerford Mackay. It was designed by McKim, Mead & White, with Stanford White supervising the project - the largest private residence he ever designed.
