Country Alliance (Dominican Republic)
The Country Alliance ( es, link=no, Alianza País, ALPAÍS) is a political party in the Dominican Republic founded in 2011 by Guillermo Moreno and other citizens. Despite being a recently formed party, it has had a relatively positive acceptance by the population, obtaining in some polls even around 15% sympathy, according to the Greenberg-Diario Libre pollster. History Origins For the 2008 presidential elections, a group of social, citizen and political organizations, protected under the name of "Citizen Political Volunteer", brought former attorney Guillermo Moreno García and social leader María Teresa Cabrera as candidates for the presidency and vice-presidency for the Movement for Independence, Unity and Change (MIUCA), obtaining 18,136 valid votes (0.44%). Guillermo Moreno García
Guillermo Antonio Moreno García (born August 15, 1956) is a Dominican lawyer and politician, whom served as the District Attorney for the Distrito Nacional during the term 1996-1997. He's the president of the party Country Alliance. Early years and family Moreno is the son of the writer and poet Juan Isidro Moreno and Mercedes García Fernández, being the first of seven brothers. His grandfather Domingo Moreno Jimenes was a great writer of the 20th century. He is also ancestral related to the former Dominican presidents Manuel Jimenes and his son Juan Isidro Jimenes. Santo Domingo Este is a municipality and the provincial capital of the Santo Domingo province in the Dominican Republic. It has one municipal district (''distrito municipal''), San Luis. Santo Domingo Este is across the Ozama River which divides the east and west sections of metropolitan Santo Domingo. 2020 Dominican Republic Municipal Elections
Municipal elections were held in the Dominican Republic on February 16, 2020, to elect all local governments officials in the country, including mayors, deputy mayors, aldermen, directors, deputy directors, and voices in municipalities. However, due to countless electoral polling places reporting problems with the electronic voting system within the first few hours of opening the polls, the Central Electoral Board (Spanish: ''Junta Central Electoral'', ''JCE'') decided to suspend the elections. The elections were rescheduled to March 15, 2020. These would have been the second municipal elections to be held solely and apart from any other electoral process in the country's history and the first since 1968. The Modern Revolutionary Party ( es, Partido Revolucionario Moderno or PRM) is a political party in the Dominican Republic.
