Counterstrike (drum And Bass Group)
Counterstrike is a drum and bass music producer duo from Cape Town consisting of Justin Scholtemeyer and Eaton Crous. They are considered to be one of the pioneers of the South African drum and bass scene. Counterstrike are known for their Musical composition, composition of raw, high-energy sound inspired by Heavy metal music, metal, techno and early techstep. Biography Counterstrike, also known as Animal Chin and 500 Mills, have been active Drum and Bass, drum & bass DJs and Record producer, producers since the mid-1990s. Collectively producing since 1998, the duo drew attention for their releases on various high-profile labels such as Rob Playford's Moving Shadow, Dieselboy's Human Imprint, Barcode Recordings and Dylan's Obscene. Maxim Anokhin (born 1988), known by his stage name Limewax is a Ukrainian drum and bass music producer and DJ from Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukraine. His style is described as inspired by harsher sounds of hardstep and darkstep; however, he is most recognizable as a Skullstep artist. He has collaborated with artists such as The Panacea, Current Value, Donny, Proket, and Freak Recordings, Dylan. Anokhin began composing music shortly after moving to Tilburg, Netherlands in 1999. The End (club)
The End was a nightclub in the West End of London, England. Started in December 1995 by DJs Layo Paskin and Mr C, it was also responsible for the label End Recordings. Musical genres played there included techno and house on Saturday nights, drum and bass and breakbeat on Friday night, and indie on Monday with a club called Trash. The End also hosted other nights throughout the week and weekend, including a dubstep night on Wednesdays. History Since its opening in 1995, many of the world's finest DJs played and/or hosted nights at The End at significant points in their careers. Homegrown (drum And Bass Event)
Homegrown was a monthly drum and bass event held at Mercury Live, Cape Town. It featured several international and local acts, including Dieselboy, Pendulum, Counterstrike, Donny, Raiden, Eye-D, Matt Impact, Robyn Chaos, Temper D, Nymfo, SFR and Hyphen. Owned and managed by Algorythm Recordings, the event took place every first Saturday of the month, and was the longest running drum and bass event in South Africa. The last Homegrown was held on 3 November 2012. It has subsequently spawned a successor event called 'Pressure', which occupies Homegrown's original venue and schedule, hosted by SFR, Hyphen and RudeOne. The Panacea
Mathis Mootz is a prolific German electronic musician and DJ. Mootz is best known as The Panacea (until 2005, simply as Panacea), his drum and bass stage name and main musical project, and as m2 (pronounced "Squaremeter"), his dark ambient side project and alter-ego. Born August 18, 1976 in Wetzlar, Germany, Mootz served an apprenticeship in classical music and was a member of the boy's choir of Windsbach. After studying music engineering at the SAE Institute, Mootz worked with the experimental hip hop/ illbient label Chrome, an offshoot of Force Inc Music Works. Evol Intent
Evol Intent is a hardstep drum and bass group formed in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. in 2000. The group is composed of The Enemy (Ashley Jones), Knick ( Nick Weiller), and Gigantor (Mike Diasio). The trio has released several singles on their own label Evol Intent Recordings as well as Dieselboy's Human Imprint and Barcode Recordings, and performed as headliners for several Therapy Sessions events. They are also known for their contributions with Lifted Music Group. In 2005, Evol Intent provided a continuous mix for the second CD of Dieselboy's compilation '' The Human Resource''.
