Countdown (Polystyle Publications)
''Countdown'' was a British comic published weekly by Polystyle Publications – ultimately, under several different titles – from early 1971 to late summer 1973. The pages in each issue were numbered in reverse order, with page 1 at the end – a gimmick which was derived from the comic's title in order to create a ''countdown'' to the number one every week. ''Countdown'' initially featured many comic strips based on Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation TV shows which had been popular throughout the 1960s. (Much of this material was reprinted from an earlier publication called ''TV Century 21''.) The principle exceptions to this were the ''Doctor Who'' strip, which had previously appeared in Polystyle's long-established title ''TV Comic'', the Anderson's new live-action series ''UFO'', and (from issue 35) the Roger Moore/Tony Curtis vehicle ''The Persuaders!''. Countdown To Final Crisis
''Countdown'', also known as ''Countdown to Final Crisis'' for its last 24 issues based on the cover, was a comic book Limited series (comics), limited series published by DC Comics. It debuted on May 9, 2007, directly following the conclusion of the last issue of ''52 (comics), 52''. The series is written primarily by Paul Dini, along with a rotating team of Writer, writers and Artist, artists. ''Countdown'' consists of 51 issues, numbered in reverse and published weekly for one year. The series covers much of the fictional DC Universe, told in parallel narratives, through the interconnecting stories of a cast of characters. It frequently crosses over with List of DC Comics publications (K–O), other DC titles. Unlike the ''52'' limited series of the previous year, ''Countdown'' is not depicted as taking place in "Real time (media), real time" but presumably operates on the same floating timeline as DC Comics stories in general. Countdown To Infinite Crisis
''DC Countdown'', commonly referred to as ''Countdown to Infinite Crisis'', is a one-shot publication and the official start of the "Infinite Crisis" storyline. It was released 30 March 2005, sold out, and quickly went to a second printing. When this comic was first published, the cover showed Batman holding a shadowed corpse, so as not to ruin the surprise of who dies. For the second printing, the shadows were removed to reveal the identity of the corpse. During initial solicitations the comic was entitled ''DC Countdown'' to postpone revelation of an upcoming crisis. ''Countdown'' was a special 80 page comic originally priced at $1, much lower than would normally be the case for an 80-page comic, although the second printing was priced at $2. The script was co-written by Geoff Johns, Greg Rucka, and Judd Winick, while the art chores were divided up, generally on a chapter by chapter basis, between the penciller-inker teams of Rags Morales & Michael Bair, Jesus Saiz & Jimmy Palm ...
