Cotswold (neighborhood)
The Cotswold neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, was named after the region of the same name in England. It is well-known for a large shopping center, Cotswold Village Shops, located at the intersection of Randolph and Sharon Amity Roads. Originally known as Cotswold Mall, it was one of Charlotte's first suburban malls. Cotswold is emerging as one of the more desirable areas for living and shopping with close proximity to Uptown. Many 1950s and 1960s homes are being remodeled and sold. The area is neighbored by Randolph Park, Echo Hills, Grier Heights, Myers Park, Oakhurst, Providence Park, Sherwood Forest, and Wendover/Sedgewood. Demographics As of 2010, Cotswold had a population of 4,437. The racial makeup of the neighborhood was 83.2% White, 11.1% Black or African American, 1.6% Asian, and 2.5% of some other race. Ivey's
Ivey's (J.B. Ivey & Company), a former department store chain, was acquired by Dillard's, Inc. in 1990. Ivey's was based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and was founded in 1900 by Joseph Benjamin (J. B.) Ivey. History J. B. Ivey opened the first Ivey's store on February 19, 1900, on North Tryon Street in Charlotte, North Carolina. The initial location, "one and half blocks from the town square," resulted in poor sales. Later in 1900, Ivey moved the store location to the first block of West Trade Street. The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, better known as A&P, was an American chain store, chain of grocery stores that operated from 1859 to 2015. Monroe is a city in and the county seat of Union County, North Carolina, United States. The population increased from 32,797 in 2010 to 34,551 in 2020. It is within the rapidly growing Charlotte metropolitan area. Monroe has a council-manager form of government. History Monroe was founded as a planned settlement. SouthPark is an area edge city in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Its name is derived from the upscale SouthPark Mall, which opened on February 12, 1970. At nearly 1.8 million square feet, SouthPark Mall is the largest shopping mall in Charlotte and all of the Carolinas.
