__NOTOC__ Costello is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located in the territory's east adjoining the border with the state of Queensland about south-east of the territory capital of Darwin. The locality consists of the following land (from north to south, then west to east): #The Wakaya Aboriginal Lands Trust and land described as NT Portion 4246 #The Arruwurra Aboriginal Corporation, NT Portions 4247, 581, 1094 and 1095, and the Argadargada pastoral lease and, #The Georgina Downs and Lake Nash pastoral leases The locality fully surrounds the localities of Alpurrurulam and Canteen Creek. As of 2020, it has an area of . The locality's boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007. The Division of Lingiari is an Australian electoral division in the Northern Territory that covers the entirety of the territory outside of the Division of Solomon, which covers Darwin and surrounding areas. The division also includes the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as – an increase of 8.8 per cent or people over the . Limmen Bight River
The Limmen Bight River is a river in the Northern Territory, Australia. The headwaters rise at the base of the Favenc Range near O.T. Downs and Broadmere Stations. It then flows in a northerly direction, with many smaller tributaries feeding the river which forms a series of braided channels across the plains. It flows past Sculthorpe Pound and through Limmen Gate hemmed to the east by the Tawallah Range. It continues through Limmen National Park past the Four Archers near Burketown Crossing and eventually discharges in the Limmen Bight in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Fifteen tributaries join the river including October Creek, Balbirni Creek, Lansen Creek, Crooked Creek, Tyangkulta Creek, Cox River and Nathan River. John Costello (pastoralist)
John Costello (31 March 1838 – 25 February 1923) was a pioneer and pastoralist in outback Queensland. Early life Born in Yass, New South Wales, Costello was the fifth child of Michael and Mary Costello. His father was a store-keeper and grazier who had come to Australia with his wife from Ireland in 1837. All four of his siblings died en route to Australia, the family later had a daughter named Mary. The family had settled in Yass in 1851 after selling their store and acquired in the area. Costello quickly became a renowned stockman. Pastoral endeavours In 1863 his younger sister, Mary, married Patrick Durack. Costello and Durack both shared a hunger for land and were fascinated by stories of explorers travelling through outback Queensland. In 1863 the pair met William Landsborough and decided to lead a party to acquire land in south west Queensland. Argadargada Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. Location It is situated about south of Alpurrurulam and north east of Alice Springs. The property shares a boundary with Annitowa and Ooratippra to the west, Lucy Creek and Manners Creek Station to the south, Lake Nash and Georgina Downs to the east and the Atnetye Aboriginal Land Trust to the south.
