Cory Blaser
Cory Steven Blaser (born December 8, 1981) is an American Major League Baseball umpire. He umpired his first major league game on April 24, 2010. Umpiring career Blaser is a graduate of Pomona High School and attended Colorado State University. He had previously worked in the Arizona League Northwest League, Midwest League Carolina League Eastern League Florida Instructional League, and Arizona Instructional League. Blaser attended the Harry Wendelstedt Umpire School, and works as an instructor there in the off-season. Blaser was officially named to the full-time MLB staff prior to the 2014 season. His uniform number is 89. Blaser worked his first career MLB postseason game in right field on October 7, 2015, serving in the 2015 National League Wild Card Game between the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Arizona Instructional League (AIL), sometimes known informally as "instructs", is an American professional baseball league. The league was founded in 1958. Young major league prospects hone their skills in the AIL, while experienced players may go there to rehabilitate from an injury, to learn a new position or to refine a particular skill. Purpose The Arizona Instructional League, which plays its games each September and October, serves to develop players who have been drafted by teams in Major League Baseball (MLB). Florida Instructional League
The Florida Instructional League (FIL), sometimes known informally as "instructs", is an American professional baseball league. The league was founded in 1958. Young major league prospects hone their skills in the FIL, while experienced players may go there to rehabilitate from an injury, to learn a new position or to refine a particular skill. Carolina League
The Carolina League is a Minor League Baseball league which has operated along the Atlantic Coast of the United States since 1945. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as the Low-A East before reassuming its original moniker in 2022. The Midwest League is a Minor League Baseball league established in 1947 and based in the Midwestern United States. A Class A league for most of its history, the league was promoted to High-A as part of Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. Arizona League
The Arizona Complex League (ACL) is a rookie-level Minor League Baseball league that operates in and around Phoenix, Arizona, since 1988. Prior to 2021, it was known as the Arizona League (AZL). Along with the Florida Complex League (FCL), it forms the lowest rung on the North American minor-league ladder. ACL teams play at the minor league spring training complexes of their parent Major League Baseball (MLB) clubs and are owned by those parent clubs. Admission is not charged and no concessions are operated at the teams' games. Every Cactus League team fields at least one team in the league. Pomona High School is a public secondary school operated by Jefferson County School District R-1 in Arvada, Colorado, United States. History Pomona High School was built in 1973. Umpire (baseball)
In baseball, the umpire is the person charged with referee, officiating the game, including beginning and ending the game, enforcing the rules of the game and the grounds, making judgment calls on plays, and handling the disciplinary actions. The term is often shortened to the colloquial form ump. They are also sometimes addressed as blue at lower levels due to the common color of the uniform worn by umpires.
