Corsica Libera
''Corsica Libera'' (, en, Free Corsica) is a Left-wing politics, left-wing separatism, separatist political party active in Corsica. It was founded in Corte, Haute-Corse, Corte in February 2009 by members of three nationalist parties, ''Corsica Nazione'', ''Rinnovu'' and the Corsican Nationalist Alliance. ''Corsica Libera'' advocates full independence for Corsica and it does not condemn the violent actions by groups such as the National Liberation Front of Corsica. The party distinguished itself with its symbolic occupation of Christian Clavier's Corsican residence. The party has one seat in the Corsican Assembly and a number of local councillors, including the mayor of the small village Granace. The party's candidate in the 2010 French regional elections#Corsica, 2010 territorial elections, Jean-Guy Talamoni, won 9.36% of the vote and qualified for the runoff. The National Liberation Front of Corsica ( co, Fronte di liberazione naziunale di a Corsica or ; french: Front de libération nationale corse, abbreviated FLNC) was a militant group that advocates an independent state on the island of Corsica, separate from France. The organisation was primarily present in Corsica and less so on the French mainland. '' A Conculta Naziunalista'' was often considered to be the political wing of the organisation. 2015 French Regional Elections
Regional elections were held in France on 6 and 13 December 2015. At stake were the regional councils in metropolitan and overseas France including the Corsican Assembly and inaugural seats in the Assembly of French Guiana and Assembly of Martinique, all for a six-year term. The Departmental Council of Mayotte, which also exercises the powers of a region, was the only region not participating in this election, having already been renewed on 2 April 2015. There were 18 regional presidencies at stake, with 13 in mainland France and Corsica, as well as 5 overseas. Though they do not have legislative autonomy, these territorial collectivities manage sizable budgets. Moreover, regional elections are often taken as a mid-term opinion poll. 2010 French Regional Elections
Regional elections were held in France on 14 and 21 March 2010. At stake were the presidencies of each of France's 26 ''régions'', which, though they do not have legislative autonomy, manage sizable budgets. The elections resulted in significant gains for the French Socialist Party (PS) and its allies, who went on to control 21 of the 22 regions of Metropolitan France. Situation Following the 2004 elections, which saw an historic victory of the left, largely led by the PS, only Alsace and Corsica were still run by the UMP. The left made gains in the national level in 2007 (presidential and legislative), and performed strongly in the 2008 municipal and cantonal elections. Corsica Nazione () was a Corsican nationalist party which aimed to gain control over Corsica from France, regain national rights, and promote the Corsican national identity.
