Public sector corruption in the United Kingdom is perceived to be mostly rare, according to Transparency International's 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) where the United Kingdom scored 78 on a scale from 0 ("highly corrupt") to 100 ("highly clean"); although Transparency International's own website details the damning true extent of corruption found in many areas of the UK, including parliament and the NHS. The national flag of the United Kingdom is the Union Jack, also known as the Union Flag. The design of the Union Jack dates back to the Act of Union 1801 which united the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland (previously in personal union) to create the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Transparency International e.V. (TI) is a German registered association founded in 1993 by former employees of the World Bank. Bribery Act 2010
The Bribery Act 2010 (c.23) is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom that covers the criminal law relating to bribery. Introduced to Parliament in the Queen's Speech in 2009 after several decades of reports and draft bills, the Act received the Royal Assent on 8 April 2010 following cross-party support. Initially scheduled to enter into force in April 2010, this was changed to 1 July 2011. The Act repeals all previous statutory and common law provisions in relation to bribery, instead replacing them with the crimes of bribery, being bribed, the bribery of foreign public officials, and the failure of a commercial organisation to prevent bribery on its behalf.
