Corruption In Bangladesh
Corruption in Bangladesh has been a continuing problem. According to all major ranking institutions, Bangladesh routinely finds itself among the most corrupt countries in the world. The public sectors conducted by the Government are the most corrupted sectors of the country. In Transparency International's 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index, which scored the public sector of 180 countries on a scale from 0 ("highly corrupt") to 100 ("very clean"), Bangladesh scored 25. When ranked by score, Bangladesh ranked 147th among the 180 countries in the Index, where the country ranked last is perceived to have the most corrupt public sector. For comparison, the best score was 90 (ranked 1), the worst score was 12 (ranked 180), and the average score was 43. Flag Of Bangladesh
The national flag, national flag of Bangladesh, was adopted officially on 17 January 1972. It consists of a red disc or sun on top of a dark green banner. The red disc is offset slightly toward the hoist so that it appears centered when the flag is flying. While there are many interpretations, according to Shib Narayan Das who put the map on the first flag design, green on the flag represented the landscape and the red circle represented the sun, symbolising a new day and end of oppression. The flag is based on a similar flag used during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, which had a yellow map of the country inside the red disc. In 1972 this map was removed from the flag. One reason given was the difficulty for rendering the map correctly on both sides of the flag. Syed Modasser Ali FRCS, FRCOpth is an ophthalmic surgeon from Bangladesh and was the Health, Family Welfare and Social Welfare adviser to the Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, from 2009 to 2013. He is the founder of Mojibunnessa Eye Hospital, the first registered eye hospital in Bangladesh and founding editor-in-chief of the ''Bangladesh Ophthalmic Journal'', the first peer-review ophthalmic journal in Bangladesh. Khaleda Zia
Khaleda Zia (; born Khaleda Khanam Putul in 1945) is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh from March 1991 to March 1996, and again from June 2001 to October 2006. She was the first female prime minister of Bangladesh. She is the widow of former President of Bangladesh Ziaur Rahman. She is the current chairperson and leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) which was founded by Rahman in 1978. Harris Chowdhury
Abul Harris Chowdhury (born 1 November 1952) is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the Political Secretary of Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He was the Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Chowdhury was sentenced to 65 years in total and a life term in prison in absentia for allegedly committing multiple crimes that his party says he was falsely charged with along with the party leader Begum Khaleda Zia’s son Tarique Rahman and many other senior party members. Abdur Rahman Bodi
Abdur Rahman Bodi (born 4 January 1970) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Cox's Bazar-4 constituency during 2009–2019. Bodi did not get the party's nomination for the 2018 Bangladeshi general election but instead, his wife, Shahin Akhtar, did and went on to win the election and became the incumbent member of the same constituency. Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (born 3 February 1948) is a senior Bangladesh Awami League politician who served as a Member of parliament from Chandpur-2 constituency and a minister of several ministries. Manjurul Islam Liton (c. 1968 – 31 December 2016) was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a member of parliament from the Gaibandha-1 constituency. Early life and career Liton was a marine engineer by training. He was a director of Ashraf Ali Cold Storage Limited and proprietor of Islam Ship Builders & Heavy Engineering. Sohel Rana (businessman)
Mohammad Sohel Rana (born 1977) is the owner of Rana Plaza which collapsed in Savar, a sub-district near Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. He is a Jubo League leader of Bangladesh Awami League. Rana Plaza collapse Rana and his father Abdul Khalek built Rana Plaza in 2006, after they reportedly had bullied off co-owners and falsified deeds to acquire full possession.
