Correllengua
The Correllengua ({{IPA-ca, korəˈʎeŋɡwə, ec) is a campaign that is held annually in the Catalan Countries. Created in 1993 by cultural Catalan association '' Coordinadora d'Associacions per la Llengua Catalana'' (CAL), it has the aim of promoting the use of Catalan language. Inspired by the Basque Korrika, the Correllengua is a series of celebrations, street dances, cultural acts and fanfare of all kinds (such as Correfoc) in order to spread the Catalan language. Korrika
Korrika (Basque for ''running'') is a biennial event in the Basque Country that creates awareness of AEK’s adult Basque language curriculum and Basque language, and is also a fund raiser; AEK is an adult education organisation for the teaching of Basque language.Basque acronym for Coordinator of Literacy and Basque Promotion It is one of the largest demonstrations gathering support for a language in the world, and the longest relay race worldwide, with 2,557 kilometres in 2017, running day and night without interruption for 11 days. The Korrika is celebrated beyond its fundraising goal, encouraging, supporting and spreading the Basque language itself. Ar Redadeg
Ar Redadeg (Breton for ''The Race'') is a relay race modelled on the Basque Korrika. It takes place around Brittany over three days and three nights from ''Naoned'' (Nantes) to ''Karaez'' (Carhaix). Its aim is to raise funds each year to finance a project promoting the Breton language. While the Korrika has taken place every two years since 1980, this is the first Redadeg to be organised started on April 30, 2008. The runners covered some at an average speed of per hour. The route for Ar Redadeg was planned so it would go through the five Breton départements: ''Penn-ar-Bed'' (Finistère), ''Aodoù-an-Arvor'' (Côtes-d'Armor), ''Mor-Bihan'' (Morbihan, the only one to have been given a Breton name in French), Il-ha-Gwilen (Ille-et-Vilaine) and Liger-Atlantel (Loire-Atlantique). Rith
Rith () is a relay race organised in support of the Irish language. It was held for the first time in 2010 and coincided with Seachtain na Gaeilge, the Week of the Irish Language. It started in Galway and finished in Belfast, traversing both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Rith is a spin-off product, spin-off from the Korrika, a relay race organised in the Basque Country (greater region), Basque in support of the Basque language since 1980. It has since spun off the Correllengua in Catalonia, Ar Redadeg in Brittany and Corsa d'Aran in the Vall d'Aran. The Catalan Countries ( ca, països catalans, , ) refers to those territories where the Catalan language is spoken. They include the Spanish regions of Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Valencian Community, Valencia, and parts of Aragon (''La Franja'') and Region of Murcia, Murcia (Carche), as well as the Andorra, Principality of Andorra, the department of Pyrénées-Orientales (aka Northern Catalonia, including Cerdanya, Cerdagne, Roussillon, and Vallespir) in France, and the city of Alghero in Sardinia (Italy). Correfoc
''Correfocs'' (); literally in English "fire-runs") are among the most striking features present in Valencian and Catalan festivals. In the ''correfoc'', a group of individuals will dress as devils and light up fireworks – fixed on devil's pitchforks or strung above the route. Dancing to the sound of a rhythmic drum group, they set off their fireworks among crowds of spectators. The spectators that participate dress to protect themselves against small burns and attempt to get as close as possible to the devils, running with the fire. Other spectators will watch from "safe" distances, rapidly retreating as necessary. The ''correfoc'' can come in many forms. Some are simple parades using fireworks and effigies of the devil. In Sitges, it is common for a crowd to line a street, while participants run through a tunnel of fireworks.
