Corner Ballpark
The Corner Ballpark (also known as the Willie Horton Field of Dreams at The Corner Ballpark) is a multipurpose sports stadium located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit. Built on the former site of Tiger Stadium, the stadium opened in 2018 and is the home of the Detroit Police Athletic League. It is also home to numerous youth, college, amateur, and semi-professional sports teams and has also hosted several concerts during the spring and summer. Comerica Park is a baseball stadium located in Downtown Detroit. It has been the home of Major League Baseball's Detroit Tigers since 2000, when the team left Tiger Stadium. History Construction Founded in 1894, the Tigers had played at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull Avenues in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood since 1896, when Bennett Park opened. William Earnest Harwell (January 25, 1918 – May 4, 2010) was an American sportscaster, known for his long career calling play-by-play of Major League Baseball games. Kwame Malik Kilpatrick (born June 8, 1970) is an American former politician who served as the 72nd mayor of Detroit from 2002 to 2008. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented the 9th district in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1997 to 2002. Kilpatrick resigned as mayor in September 2008 after being convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice. He was sentenced to four months in jail and was released on probation after serving 99 days.
