Cornel Itu
Cornel Itu (born October 17, 1955) is a Romanian politician. A member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), he has represented Cluj County in the Chamber of Deputies since 2008. Biography Born in Ciubanca, Cluj County, he attended Andrei Mureșanu High School in nearby Dej from 1970 to 1974. He then enrolled in a metallurgy school in Aiud, graduating in 1976 with a diploma in forging, hardening, and tempering. In 1978, he entered the mechanics faculty of the Cluj-Napoca Polytechnic Institute. He graduated first in his class in 1981, earning a junior engineer's degree. He worked as a junior engineer in training at a metals factory in Aiud from 1981 to 1982. Itu moved to a factory in Dej in 1982, and would remain there until 2008. He held a junior engineer's position there from 1982 to 1984; his activity focused on paper manufacture and metal products. Between 1984 and 1987, he was head of construction installations. FC Unirea Dej
Fotbal Club Unirea Dej, commonly known as Unirea Dej, is a Romanian professional football club from Dej, Cluj County, Romania, founded in 1921. They play in the Liga II. History It is one of Romania's oldest football teams, although it never reached the Liga I. Unirea's home field, Stadionul Unirea, has 5,000 seats. In 2004 Unirea Dej became the reserve team of CFR Cluj, until the summer of 2007. It has an average audience of about 300 fans. Since September 2008 the club has collaborated with AC Milan. The Italian club wishes to build a sports base for young players. "We will be an associated club with AC Milan, and Unirea shorts will have Milan's crest," said a staff member. 2012 Romanian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Romania on 9 December 2012. The Social Liberal Union (USL) of Prime Minister Victor Ponta won an absolute majority in both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. Despite the severe weather in parts of the country, the turnout was at 42%, slightly higher than the last legislative elections held in 2008 which saw a turnout of 39%. The Social Liberal Union (USL) obtained a huge majority in both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, with 60% and 59% respectively of the votes and in MP mandates, a record number of 395 seats. Far behind, the Right Romania Alliance (ARD) came in second place with only 17% of the vote and 80 seats, losing about half of what they won in 2008. 2008 Romanian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Romania on 30 November 2008. The Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) won three more seats than PSD in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, although the alliance headed by the Social Democratic Party (PSD) won more votes and a fractionally higher vote share. The two parties subsequently formed a governing coalition with Emil Boc of the PDL as Prime Minister. Electoral system President Traian Băsescu had wanted to introduce a single-winner two-round electoral system before this election, but a 2007 referendum on the proposal failed due to insufficient turnout.
