In cricket, a slip fielder (collectively, a ''slip cordon'' or ''the slips'') is placed behind the batsman on the off side of the field. They are placed with the aim of catching an edged ball which is beyond the wicket-keeper's reach. Many teams employ two or three slips (numbered from the slip fielder closest to the wicket-keeper: first slip, second slip, etc.). A ''floating slip'' is sometimes employed, usually in limited over games, who patrols an area in the slip cordon that would ordinarily be occupied by more than one fielder. Cordón Industrial (or in plural Cordones industriales; en, Industrial Belts) is an organ of popular power or of workplace democracy. Cordones were established in Chile by the working class during the Salvador Allende Popular Unity government (1970–1973). The Casa del Cordón (Spanish for "House of the Cord") is a property located in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic. It is the oldest European stone house in the Americas and probably the first European two-story house. Its name is due to the chiseled sash-and-cord that it presents on its façade, which is associated with the Franciscan Order. Cordón is a central ''barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay, located East of the Centro. Its main avenue is 18 de Julio Avenue. History Cordón was the first neighborhood to be created outside the walls of the old Citadel of Montevideo. In its origins it was known as "''El Cardal''", due to the fact that thistles () grew in the fields dedicated to the cultivation of corn.
