Cordial (album)
Cordial is the tenth studio album from Québécois band La Bottine Souriante. It was released in 2001 through the band's own label, Les Productions Mille-Pattes. Like in the band's recent albums, contemporary instruments are added in to give the songs a modern sound. In this album, synthesizers, drums and mixing (track 16) are introduced. The first track is even mixed with traditional arabic music. All the songs and reels are still mostly traditional. Baie-Saint-Paul
Baie-Saint-Paul ( 2011 Population 7,332; UA population 4,535) is a city in the Province of Quebec, Canada, on the northern shore of the Saint Lawrence River. Baie-Saint-Paul is the seat of Charlevoix Regional County Municipality. The city is situated at the mouth of the Gouffre River. It is known for its art galleries, shops and restaurants. The place gained some prominence in the 1770s when Doctor Philippe-Louis-François Badelard named a disease he was researching the "Baie-Saint-Paul maladie". This illness was the subject of one of the first medical publications done in Lower Canada. It is also where Cirque du Soleil originated back in the early 1980s and the location of the first show using the name Cirque du Soleil during "La Fete Foraine de Baie-Saint-Paul" in 1984. La Bottine Souriante
La Bottine Souriante is a folk band from Canada. The band specializes in traditional French Canadian folk music, often with a modern twist. Formed in 1976 by Yves Lambert, Andre Marchand, and Mario Forest, they have toured extensively through Europe and North America. In 1990, the band integrated a four-piece horn section with traditional instruments such as accordion, fiddle, guitar, piano and double bass, in order to add an element of jazz to their music. In 1998, they contributed a song to the Canadian Celtic music compilation by The Chieftains, ''Fire in the Kitchen''. The group's name means "the smiling boot", which refers to the appearance of a work boot with worn-out soles. Members The line-up for LBS has changed numerous times (not unusual for folk groups), and its sound has evolved accordingly.
