Ben Copperwheat is a UK-born print designer / artist living and working in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York City. Career Ben Copperwheat began his career by teaching textiles in the fashion department of Northumbria University in England. Upon arriving in New York City in 2003, he worked as a print designer for Calvin Klein Jeans where he also designed print collections for Stephen Burrows, Sue Stemp and Peter Som. From 2009 to 2012, he collaborated with his cousin, Lee Copperwheat on their own fashion label, COPPERWHEAT. As a freelance print designer, his work is commissioned by celebrities like Beyoncé Knowles' daughter Blue Ivy Carter (2016 Super Bowl), Boy George (for his 2016 Culture Club Tour), and Liza Minnelli ( New York Magazine, 2007). Dennis Copperwheat
Dennis Arthur Copperwheat GC (23 May 1914 – 8 September 1992) of the Royal Navy won the George Cross for the heroism he displayed on 22 March 1942 in scuttling a burning ammunition ship in Valletta harbour, Malta. George Cross Following a heavy Luftwaffe air attack on Malta and ships entering Valletta Harbour, Lieutenant Copperwheat (a torpedoes and explosives officer) commanded a squad of men from sent to scuttle a Norwegian merchantman ''Talabot'' (survivor of the convoy MG1), which was laden with ammunition and burning in the busy harbour. As the men laid scuttling charges, the fires caused ammunition stored on the deck to explode all around them and prevented the charges being laid in the ships hold. Therefore, the charges had to be draped over the sides of the stricken vessel. Winifred May Copperwheat (10 October 190523 February 1976) was an English classical music, classical viola player and teacher. She studied under English violist Lionel Tertis at the Royal Academy of Music. Tertis later said after one of her recitals, that she had "played like an angel".
