''Copper Angel'' (russian: Медный ангел, Medny angel) is a 1984 Soviet action film directed by Veniamyn Dorman and starring Anatoly Kuznetsov, Leonid Kuravlyov and Aleksandr Filippenko. Plot The international geological expedition headed by Soviet engineer Kurmaev (Anatoly Kuznetsov), is doing research with the purpose of construction of hydroelectric power station in a remote mountain area of a Latin American country. Hotel ''Copper Angel'' forms the base of the expedition, a refuge for the brothers Valdes gang who are selling illegal drugs and a target for the reactionary organization. Alexander Nikolayevich Yakovlev (russian: Алекса́ндр Никола́евич Я́ковлев; 2 December 1923 – 18 October 2005) was a Soviet and Russian politician, diplomat, and historian. A member of the Politburo and Secretariat of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union throughout the 1980s, he was termed the "godfather of glasnost", and was the intellectual force behind Mikhail Gorbachev's reform programme of glasnost and perestroika. Born into a rural family, Yakovlev served as a platoon commander of a marine brigade during World War II, and became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union following the war. During the rule of Nikita Khrushchev, he became a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU, before resigning to study abroad as part of the Fulbright Programme, returning in 1960. Rostislav Ivanovich Yankovsky ( be, Расціслаў Іванавіч Янкоўскі, russian: Ростислав Иванович Янковский; 5 February 1930 – 26 June 2016) was a Belarusian actor. He was born in Odessa on 5 February 1930, studied in Leninabad and debuted in the Tajik theatre in 1951. Since 1957, he worked in the Minsk Drama Theatre. Yankovsky was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1978. He is the older brother of the more famous Oleg Yankovsky. His son Igor Yankovsky is also an actor.
