Constance Copeman
Constance Gertrude Copeman (1864–1953) was a British painter, printmaker and engraver often of animal figures. Biography Copeman was born in Liverpool where her father was a solicitor. She attended the Liverpool School of Art between 1891 and 1900, where she studied under John Finnie. Copeman then studied at St Ives in Cornwall with Julius Olsson for a time before returning to live in Liverpool. Copeman exhibited on a regular basis at the annual Liverpool Autumn exhibitions from 1885 to 1938 and, from 1894, at the Royal Academy on six occasions. Works by Copeman were also shown at the Royal Cambrian Academy, the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers. Fred Copeman
Frederick Bayes Copeman OBE (1907–1983) was an English volunteer in the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War, commanding the British Battalion. He is also notable for contributing to London's air raid defences during the Second World War. Childhood Fred Copeman was born in the Wangford Union Workhouse near Beccles in East Suffolk, England, in 1907. His mother and brother, George, were also residents. Initially, the Copeman brothers were the only children in the workhouse but, in 1916, Fred (aged nine) and George were moved from the workhouse to the Children's Home in Ravensmere Road, Beccles. It was here that Copeman befriended his first dog, a stray he called "Bonnie". Lloyd Groff Copeman
Lloyd Groff Copeman (December 28, 1881 – July 5, 1956) was an American inventor who devised the first electric stove and the flexible rubber ice cube tray, among other products. He had nearly 700 patents to his name, and he claimed that he could walk into any store and find one of his inventions. Early life Copeman was raised by his Canadian parents on a farm in Hadley Township, Michigan which was later incorporated into Farmer's Creek, Michigan - located approximately 20 miles east of Flint, Michigan. Nicholas Copeman
Vice Admiral Sir Nicholas Alfred Copeman, (28 February 1906 – 21 November 1969) was a Royal Navy officer who served as Commander-in-Chief, South Atlantic and South America Station from 1960 to 1963. Naval career Copeman served in the Second World War and was deployed to Norway 1940. In 1948 he was appointed deputy director of Torpedo, Mining and Anti-Submarine Warfare at the Admiralty. He went on to be captain in charge of the 2nd Minesweeping Flotilla in 1950 and joined the Admiralty Interview Board in 1952. Peter William Monckton Copeman FRCS (9 April 1932 – 13 July 2018) was an English dermatologist known as "Dr Spot" by his colleagues. He was consultant physician at Westminster Hospital and consulting dermatologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He treated many celebrities and also helped modernise Qatar’s medical services. Russell Copeman (born April 1, 1960) is a Canadian politician. He was a Montreal City Councillor and was the borough mayor for Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace from November 14, 2013 to November 16, 2017. Sydney Copeman
Sydney Arthur Monckton Copeman K.St.J FRS FRCP (21 February 1862 – 11 April 1947) was a British medical doctor and senior medical officer in the Ministry of Health. He was the eldest son of Rev Arthur Charles Copeman, Vicar of St Andrew's Norwich. He was educated at Norwich School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge from which he graduated in 1882. He went on to undergo medical training at St Thomas' Hospital, London, qualifying in 1886. He obtained a post-graduate MD at Cambridge University in 1890. In 1891 he became a medical inspector with the Local Government Board. In 1898, he was awarded the Cameron Prize for Therapeutics of the University of Edinburgh. When the Ministry of Health replaced the board in 1919, Copeman became a medical officer with the ministry, retiring in 1925.
