The Argentine Football Association ( es, Asociación del Fútbol Argentino, ; AFA) is the governing body of football in Argentina based in Buenos Aires. It organises the main divisions of Argentine league system (from Primera División to Torneo Regional Federal and Primera D), including domestic cups: Copa Argentina, Copa de la Liga Profesional and the Trofeo de Campeones de la Liga Profesional. The body also manages all the Argentina national teams, including the Senior, U-20, U-17, U-15, Olympic and women's squads. Secondly, it also organizes the women's, children, youth, futsal, and other local leagues. The AFA also organised all the Primera División championships from 1893 to 2016–17. From the 2017–18 season the "Superliga Argentina", an entity which was administrated independently and had its own statute, took over the Primera División championships.

Club Sportivo Balcarce, or simply "Sportivo Balcarce", is an Argentine sports club located in Florida, Buenos Aires. Although other disciplines are held in the club, football was the most predominant sport while the senior squad was affiliated to the Argentine Football Association in the 1920s and 1930s. Other sports practised at the club include gymnastics, taekwondo and swimming. Club Atlético Palermo is a sports club from the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. 1928 in Argentine football saw the Primera División league expanded to include 36 teams. They played in a single league with each team playing the other only once. Huracán won its 4th. title in Primera. Primera División El Porvenir and Argentino de Banfield returned to the top division after their runs on Primera B while Liberal Argentino and Porteño were relegated. 1929 In Argentine Football
1929 saw the 35 teams that formed the Primera División divided into two groups. The top 2 of each group qualified for the final stages of the tournament, which was eventually won by Gimnasia y Esgrima (LP). The season was marred by mass abandonment of games, defending Argentine champion Huracán withdrew from 8 of its fixtures leaving them to finish in 14th place in the group. Several other teams withdrew from multiple games. Abandonments of games, discontinuations, and withdrawals were quite common in these early seasons (cf., for instance, the second half of the 1930 season ). The 1920 South American Championship of Nations was the fourth continental championship for nations in South America. It was held in Valparaíso, Chile from 11 to 26 September 1920. Overview The participating countries were the host Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil as the defending champion. Uruguay regained the title lost in the last edition, thus becoming champion for the third time in the first four editions of the tournament. Ángel Romano was the top goalscorer alongside teammate José Pérez, with three goals, repeating his feat of three years earlier.
