The Liberal National Party of Queensland (LNP) is a major political party in Queensland, Australia. It was formed in 2008 by a merger of the Queensland divisions of the Liberal Party and the National Party. Coorparoo is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Coorparoo had a population of 16,282 people. Geography Coorparoo is by road south-east of the Brisbane GPO. It borders Camp Hill, Holland Park, Stones Corner, Greenslopes, East Brisbane and Norman Park. Toponymy Coorparoo was chosen as the name of the suburb at a public meeting on 22 March 1875, before which it was known as Four Mile Camp. The name Coorparoo is likely derived from an Aboriginal name for Norman Creek, probably recorded by early surveyors as ''Koolpuroom''. The word is thought to refer to either a place associated with mosquitoes, or a sound made by the 'gentle dove'. The latter explanation appears doubtful though, as 'gentle dove' may mean the spotted dove, which was introduced to the area in 1912, long after the name Coorparoo was adopted. 2016 Brisbane City Council Election
Elections to Brisbane City Council were held on Saturday, 19 March 2016 to elect a councillor to each of the local government area's 26 wards and the direct election of the Lord Mayor of Brisbane. The election resulted in the comprehensive re-election of the Liberal National Party under Graham Quirk as Lord Mayor. The Liberal National's increased their representation by one ward to a total of 19 of 26. The lord mayoral result of 59.3% of the two-party-preferred vote was reduced for Quirk from the 69.5% result at the previous election. The main opposition party, the Labor Party was reduced to just 5 wards; its worst result in over a decade. The Queensland Greens won their first ward in this election. It is located by road south-east of the Brisbane GPO. Geography Carina Heights borders Camp Hill, Carina, Carindale, Mansfield, Mount Gravatt East, and Holland Park. Annerley is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Annerley had a population of 11,336 people. Annerley is located by road south of the Brisbane GPO. Geography Much of the suburb is elevated, lying on a ridge that gives views of the city. Elections to Brisbane City Council were held on Saturday 28 March 2020 to elect a councillor to each of the local government area's 26 wards and the direct election of the Lord Mayor of Brisbane. The election resulted in the re-election of the Liberal National Party under Adrian Schrinner as Lord Mayor and the Liberal National Party with a majority council. In the Lord Mayoral election, Adrian Schrinner and the Liberal National Party was declared the winner after defeating Pat Condren and the Labor Party on a two-party-preferred basis - 56.3% to 43.7%.
