Cooper T87
The Cooper T87 is a special purpose-built Open-wheel car, open-wheel race car, originally built by British manufacturer Cooper Cars, that was designed and developed by British racing driver and engineer Martin Brain, specifically for both Hillclimbing, hillclimb racing and Formula Libre competitions, in 1967. The car itself was based around a Formula 2 chassis, and was equipped with a naturally aspirated Daimler V8 engines, Daimler SP 250, usually found in a Daimler 250, which produced . It competed in a number of races and events, before it was sold to Clive Oakley, who continued to use it in its original guise for a while, before later fitting it with a Rover V8 engine, Rover V8. Cooper Cars
The Cooper Car Company is a British car manufacturer founded in December 1947 by Charles Cooper and his son John Cooper. Together with John's boyhood friend, Eric Brandon, they began by building racing cars in Charles's small garage in Surbiton, Surrey, England, in 1946. Through the 1950s and early 1960s they reached motor racing's highest levels as their mid-engined, single-seat cars competed in both Formula One and the Indianapolis 500, and their Mini Cooper dominated rally racing. The Cooper name lives on in the Cooper versions of the Mini production cars that are built in England, but is now owned and marketed by BMW. Martin Brain
Martin Richard Brain (22 December 1932, Birmingham – , Silverstone) was a British racing driver known for his exploits in British hillclimbs and club racing. Brain was a familiar figure within the hillclimbing community both as driver and mechanic. The peak of his career was finishing as overall runner-up to Peter Lawson in the 1968 British Hillclimb Championship in a Cooper T81B F1 chassis which he had fitted with a 7.2l Chrysler V8 engine, taking one win and four second places. The following year he drove this car and a Cooper T86B BRM F1 car to take 4th place in the championship with a further two wins. Brain scored two race wins in club Formula Libre races, firstly at Silverstone in September 1969 and Croft in May 1970. Daimler V-8 engines were designed for the Daimler Company by Edward Turner and produced from 1959 to 1969. The Daimler 2.5 V8/V8-250 is a four-door saloon which was produced by The Daimler Company Limited in the United Kingdom from 1962 to 1969.
