Ananda Kentish Muthu Coomaraswamy ( ta, ஆனந்த குமாரசுவாமி, ''Ānanda Kentiś Muthū Kumāraswāmī''; si, ආනන්ද කුමාරස්වාමි ''Ānanda Kumārasvāmī''; 22 August 1877 − 9 September 1947) was a Ceylonese metaphysician, historian and a philosopher of Indian art who was an early interpreter of Indian culture to the West. Indrajit Coomaraswamy ( ta, இந்திரஜித் குமாரசுவாமி, si, ඉන්ද්රජිත් කුමාරස්වාමි; born 3 April 1950) is a Sri Lankan economist and the 14th Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Punch Coomaraswamy (16 October 1925 – 8 January 1999) was a Singaporean judge, diplomat and politician who served as Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore between 1966 and 1970, and Singapore Ambassador to the United States between 1976 and 1984. He had also served as Singapore's Ambassador to Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Fiji, India, and Sri Lanka. Education Coomaraswamy was the son of Kandiah and Chellam Coomaraswamy. Deshamanya Radhika Coomaraswamy (born 17 September 1953)is a Sri Lankan lawyer, diplomat and human rights advocate who served as the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict until 13 July 2012. Sir Muthu Coomaraswamy ( ta, முத்து குமாரசுவாமி; 23 January 1834 – 4 May 1879) was a Ceylon Tamil lawyer, writer and member of the Legislative Council of Ceylon. Early life and family Coomaraswamy was born on 23 January 1834 in Amaittodam, Mutwal in south western Ceylon. He was the son of Gate Mudaliyar A. Coomaraswamy and Visalachchi Ammaiyar. From 1842 to 1851 he was educated at Colombo Academy where he won the Turnour Prize in 1851. Coomaraswamy married Elizabeth Clay Beebe, daughter of William Beebe from Kent, in 1878. Arumugampillai Coomaraswamy ( ta, ஆறுமுகம்பிள்ளை குமாரசுவாமி; 1783 – 7 November 1836) was a Ceylon Tamil member of the Legislative Council of Ceylon. Early life and family Coomaraswamy was born in 1783 in Garudavil near Point Pedro in northern Ceylon. He was the son of Arumugampillai. Coomaraswamy married Visalachchi. Sathyendra "Sathi" Coomaraswamy (1919 – 15 January 1988) was a Sri Lankan first-class cricketer in the 1940s and 1950s, before Sri Lanka had Test status. Coomaraswamy was born to Chellappah Coomaraswamy, a civil servant and later Senator and his wife Mankayatkarasi. He was educated at Royal College, Colombo, where he played in the Royal-Thomian encounter. Kartikeya ( sa, कार्त्तिकेय, Kārttikeya), also known as Skanda, Subrahmanya, Shanmukha (), and Murugan ( ta, முருகன்), is the Hindu god of war.
