Cook County Assessor
The Cook County Assessor is the assessor and county government officer of Cook County, Illinois. Office description Before the creation of the position of Cook County Assessor in 1932, the Cook County Board of Assessors completed assessments in Cook County. The Board of Assessors had been created after a law passed by the Illinois General Assembly on February 25, 1898 created a Board of Assessors in counties with 125,000 or more inhabitants. The board had five members, with a rule that no more than four could reside in the same city. After an apparent fourteen month delay in determining the 1931 assessment, it was decided that the structure of assessment in Cook County, with a five member Board of Assessors and three member Cook County Board of Review needed to be restructured. Fritz Kaegi
Fredrick "Fritz" Kaegi is an American politician who has served as Cook County assessor since 2018. Early life Kaegi was born in November 1971 in Chicago. He grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. He graduated from Haverford College, and went on to get his Master of Business Administration from Stanford University. Career For more than twenty years, Kaegi worked as a asset manager. This included 13 years spent working at Columbia Wagner Asset Management. Kaegi holds the designations of Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Illinois Assessment Officer. He also is a member of the International Association of Assessing Officers. Cook County Assessor 2018 campaign A first-time candidate for public office, Kaegi ran for Cook County assessor in 2018. He largely self-financed his campaign. Forrest Claypool
Forrest Edward Claypool is an American politician who has held several positions in the governments of Chicago, Cook County, and the State of Illinois. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Chicago Public Schools from July 27, 2015, until December 8, 2017. Previous offices held by Claypool include Superintendent of the Chicago Park District from 1993 to 1998, Chief of Staff to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and President of the Chicago Transit Authority. Harold Washington Party
The Harold Washington Party was founded in Chicago in the late 1980s to represent the interests of the city's African-American population who felt disenchanted with the mainline Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party. The party was created ahead of the 1989 Chicago mayoral special election, 1989 special elections to fill the mayoral vacancy in Chicago created when Harold Washington, Chicago's first black mayor, died in office.
