''Contrast'' is a five-song EP and the first release from the Tennessee-based band The Features following their departure from Universal Records. The band released the EP on their own on October 25, 2006 via their website and then later via traditional music outlets. This is also the first release to feature new keyboardist Mark Bond (formerly of Murfreesboro band De Novo Dahl) following the departure of Parrish Yaw. The Features
The Features are an American indie rock band from Sparta, Tennessee, United States of America. The original lineup consisted of Matt Pelham, Roger Dabbs, and Don Sergio. The most recent iteration consists of Pelham, Dabbs, Rollum Haas, and Mark Bond. They have released five full-length albums and three EPs. The band has appeared twice as musical guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live! History Matt Pelham, Roger Dabbs, Don Sergio, and Parrish Yaw attended middle school together in the small rural town of Sparta, Tennessee. Pelham, Dabbs, and Sergio started a band when they were in the eighth grade out of boredom, playing covers of acts like Camper Van Beethoven, Neil Young, and Guns N' Roses. While in high school, they played local events like parties and talent shows. Jacquire King
Jacquire King (born January 11, 1967) is an American record producer, recording engineer and mixer. King has worked with such notable artists as Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, James Bay, Kaleo, Modest Mouse, Shania Twain, Buddy Guy, Norah Jones, Of Monsters and Men, Cold War Kids, Punch Brothers, City and Colour, Robert Ellis, Dawes and others. His work has received more than 35 Grammy Award nominations to date. Career King had his initial training in recording engineering at Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio. His first studio employment was in the Washington, D.C. area. In 1988, he moved to California and got a job at Different Fur Studios in San Francisco. King later interned for Dan Alexander at Coast Recorders, which led to him helping two friends open Toast Studios, where he began working as an assistant. ''Some Kind of Salvation'' is the second full-length album from Tennessee-based band The Features. It was digitally self-released on June 23, 2008, with no advance notice or publicity, and followed with a vinyl self-release on September 30, 2008. The album was produced by Grammy Award-winning Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Kings Of Leon, Tom Waits, Sea Wolf) and Brian Carter at his Paradox Production facility in Murfreesboro, TN. In June 2009, the band was signed to 429 Records, an imprint of Bug Music and curated by fellow Tennessee band Kings of Leon. De Novo Dahl is an Indie rock group from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Formed in 2001, they were signed to Roadrunner Records and released from their contract in 2009. They are currently signed to Theory 8 Records. History The band was formed in 2001 by Joel Dahl, Serai Zaffiro, Derek Sandidge, Joey Andrews, Jon Schneck (later replaced by David Carney), and Mark Bond. The band took their name from the Latin words for "The New" and the last name of author Roald Dahl. Keyboardist Mark Bond left the group amicably in 2006 and now plays keyboard for The Features. He was replaced by Matthew Hungate. The group signed to Roadrunner Records in 2007.
