Consto Arena (until 2012 known as Nedre Eiker Stadion, between 2012 and 2015 as Mjøndalen Stadion and between 2015 and 2018 as Isachsen Stadion) is a football stadium located at Mjøndalen in Nedre Eiker, Norway. It is the home ground of Mjøndalen IF in the Eliteserien, providing a capacity for 4,350 spectators. History Nedre Eiker Stadion was opened in 1950. During the team's golden age from the late 1960s through the 1980s, the stadium hosted several UEFA Cup and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup games. The record attendance dates from 1968, when 15,300 people attended the Norwegian Football Cup semi-final against Rosenborg. The venue was completely renovated in 2011-12 and received artificial turf with under-soil heating. Mjøndalen
Mjøndalen is a built up area in Drammen municipality in Viken county (formerly Buskerud county), Norway. It is situated south of the Drammenselva River opposite of Krokstadelva. History Mjøndalen has traditionally been a railway site most known as an industrial sawmill location. Historically Mjøndalen was known for its industry; including paper & pulp production and a substantial cellulose industry. The production of wood products and furniture are also traditional commercial activities. All the paper mills closed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The 2015 Tippeligaen was the 71st completed season of top-tier football in Norway. The competition began on 6 April 2015, one week later than in the previous season. A short summer-break in June was scheduled between the rounds played on 12 July and 26 July, and the decisive match was played on 8 November 2015. Molde were the defending champions. Under-soil Heating
Under-soil heating is a method used in various sports stadia (with a grass surface) which heats the underside of the pitch to avoid any elements from bad weather, such as snow and ice, from building up and ultimately helps the club avoid having to postpone any matches. Most English Premier League teams now have this installed in their stadium. While it is not an official requirement, it avoids any financial loss that a club might face in having to postpone any matches due to bad weather. The first ground in England to have under-soil heating installed was Goodison Park in 1958. The pitch at Old Trafford has of under-soil heating and at Elland Road there is an under-soil heating system installed beneath the surface, consisting of 59 miles (95 km) of piping. Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. The main reason is maintenanceartificial turf stands up to heavy use, such as in sports, and requires no irrigation or trimming. The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a European football club competition contested annually by the winners of domestic cup competitions.
