Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly
The Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, also known as AJK Legislative Assembly, is a unicameral legislature of elected representatives of the Pakistani administered state of Azad Kashmir, which is located in Muzaffarabad, the capital of the state. It was established under the Interim Constitution of AJK having a total of 53 seats, with 41 general seats, while 8 are reserved of which 5 are for women, 1 for Ulama, 1 for Technocrats and 1 for J&K nationals residing abroad. The assembly consist of 41 elected Members and 8 co-opted members of which 5 are woman, one member from Ulama community, while one is from amongst Jammu & Kashmir technocrats and other professionals, whereas one is from amongst Jammu and Kashmir nationals residing abroad. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI; ur, , ) is a political party in Pakistan. It was founded in 1996 by Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, who served as the country's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. Bagh District
Bagh District ( ur, ) is one of the ten districts of Pakistan's territory of Azad Kashmir. Previously part of Poonch District, it was established as a separate district in 1988. The Bagh District is bounded on the north by the Muzaffarabad District, the Hattian Bala District, and the Baramulla District of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, on the east by the Haveli District, on the south by the Poonch District, and on the west by the Rawalpindi District of Pakistan's Punjab Province. The total area of the district is 770 square kilometers. The Bagh District is linked to the Muzaffarabad District by two roads, one via Sudhan Gali (80 km) and the other via Kohala (97 km). The district headquarters is the city of Bagh, which is situated 46 km from Rawalakot. It is said that a ''bagh'' (garden) was set up by a landowner where the premises of the Forest Department are now located. Bagh, Azad Kashmir
Bagh City ( ur, ) is the chief town and district headquarters of Bagh District, in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. The town is situated on the confluence of two nullahs (streams), Malwani and Mahl (ماہلوانی اور ماہل) at the distance of 93 km from Muzaffarabad. 2005 earthquake On 8 October 2005, Bagh was hit by a devastating earthquake that killed 8,500 people, which represented 10% of the population. Most of the victims were children attending school who died when the school buildings collapsed. The worst hit institutes were a school named Spring Field Children academy ( where 300 plus children died in junior campus),the boys' degree college and girls' degree college Bagh. Many lives could have been saved if the rescue equipment was available. The entire city was destroyed and is rebuilt with the help of government. Azad Kashmir Election 2016
General elections were held in Azad Kashmir on 21 July 2016 to elect 41 members of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Polling started at 8:00am and continued until 5:00pm. Sardar Ziaul Qamar
Sardar Ziaul Qamar is a politician from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He has been a member of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly since June 2023. He was elected in a by-election on 8 June 2023 from LA-15 Bagh-II, securing 25,755 votes. He succeeded the former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, who was disqualified by the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for contempt of court.
