''Consequences'' is the twentieth studio album by British singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading, released on 18 June 2021 by BMG Rights Management. The album peaked at number 10 on the UK Albums Chart. It was produced solely by Armatrading. Background In an interview with ''Forbes'', Armatrading said that the album received its title from the recurring topic of consequences she would often discuss with others about: "I'm always saying things to people like, "You've got to realize the consequences of what you're doing." Even really mundane things, you think you're doing this thing. Something happens in the midst of doing that thing that causes you to veer off into a whole different angle that you didn't realize was going to happen." Joan Anita Barbara Armatrading, (, born 9 December 1950) is a Kittitian-English singer-songwriter and guitarist. A three-time Grammy Award nominee, Armatrading has also been nominated twice for BRIT Awards as Best Female Artist. She received an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contemporary Song Collection in 1996. In a recording career spanning nearly 50 years, Armatrading has released 20 studio albums, as well as several live albums and compilations. Early life Joan Armatrading, the third of six children, was born in 1950 in the town of Basseterre in what was then the British colony Saint Christopher and Nevis. ''Not Too Far Away'' is the nineteenth studio album by British singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading, and was released on 18 May 2018. Armatrading produced the album herself, arranged the strings and plays and programmes all instruments. Background Armatrading signed to BMG in 2018, and this was her first album for the label. She announced touring dates for the album through her website. The tour commenced on 27 May 2018 in the US and continued in the UK from 10 September 2018. Reception AllMusic reviewer Timothy Monger noted Armatrading's "heartfelt melodies", "quality songs" and "smartly crafted ..pop" and praised her "consistent creative expression", giving special mention to the tracks "I Like It When We're Together" and "This Is Not That". The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders.
