This species is congeneric to the goliath frog, the largest known frog species in the world. Description Male ''Conraua robusta'' grow to a snout–vent length of and females to . The body is long and compact. The snout is short and rounded. The head is broad and flat. The dorsum is densely covered with small, round warts. The legs are muscular and covered with numerous parallel ridges. The toe tips have large oval discs. The body varies dorsally from beige to olive to brown with irregular black patterning, turning to almost uniformly black in old individuals. The venter is white or black, especially on the throat, .chest, and towards the knees. Habitat ''Conraua robusta'' occurs in and near cold, fast-flowing streams in both grassland and forest areas at elevations of above sea level; it does not require tree cover ...

Conraua Derooi
''Conraua derooi'' is a species of frog in the family Conrauidae. It is found in Togo and Ghana. Common name Togo slippery frog has been coined for this species. Even feared to be extinct, a few populations were found in surveys in 2005–2007, after the species had gone unrecorded for more than 20 years. Etymology The Specific name (zoology), specific name ''derooi'' honours Antoon Emeric Marcel De Roo, Antoon De Roo, a Belgian ornithologist who was part of the expedition that discovered the species. Distribution ''Conraua derooi'' is found in southwestern Togo and adjacent southeastern Ghana on the Togo-Volta Highlands, as well as in the Atewa Range in central Ghana. Records of ''Conraua alleni'' from eastern Ghana and Togo refer to this species. The Type locality (biology), type locality is (=Misahöhe) in western Togo. Description ''Conraua derooi'' are large frogs (though much smaller than their relative, the goliath frog ''Conraua goliath''), with males measuring and fem ...

Conraua Alleni
''Conraua alleni'' or Allen's slippery frog is a species of frogs in the family Conrauidae found in the Ivory Coast, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, along with a single outlying site in the Sui River Forest Reserve, Ghana. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, and rivers. It is an aquatic frog that is present in rainforest streams that flow both slowly and fast; the frogs are found in the relatively still areas of the streams. It is threatened by habitat loss Habitat destruction (also termed habitat loss and habitat reduction) is the process by which a natural habitat becomes incapable of supporting its native species. The organisms that previously inhabited the site are displaced or dead, thereby .... Conraua Goliath
The goliath frog (''Conraua goliath''), otherwise known commonly as the giant slippery frog and the goliath bullfrog, is a species of frog in the family Conrauidae. The goliath frog is the largest living frog. Specimens can grow up to in length from snout to vent, and weigh up to . This species has a relatively small habitat range in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. Its numbers are dwindling due to habitat destruction and its collection for food and the pet trade. Description Sexual dimorphism between the sexes is minimal. In a sample of 15 individuals, weights ranged between , and snout-vent lengths were between . Their eyes can be nearly in diameter. The conspicuous tympanum has a diameter around and is separated from the eye by about in adults. Goliath frog eggs and tadpoles are about the same size as other frogs despite their very large adult form. A lateral fold extends from the eye to the posterior portion of the tympanum. Toes are fully webbed, with large interdigit ...

Frog
A frog is any member of a diverse and largely Carnivore, carnivorous group of short-bodied, tailless amphibians composing the order (biology), order Anura (ανοὐρά, literally ''without tail'' in Ancient Greek). The oldest fossil "proto-frog" ''Triadobatrachus'' is known from the Early Triassic of Madagascar, but molecular clock, molecular clock dating suggests their split from other amphibians may extend further back to the Permian, 265 Myr, million years ago. Frogs are widely distributed, ranging from the tropics to subarctic regions, but the greatest concentration of species diversity is in tropical rainforest. Frogs account for around 88% of extant amphibian species. They are also one of the five most diverse vertebrate orders. Warty frog species tend to be called toads, but the distinction between frogs and toads is informal, not from Taxonomy (biology), taxonomy or evolutionary history. An adult frog has a stout body, protruding eyes, anteriorly-attached tongue, limb ...

Petropedetidae
The Petropedetidae are a family of frogs containing three genera and 12 species. They are found in sub-Saharan tropical Africa and are sometimes known under common name African torrent frogs. They are inhabitants of the splash-water zone of clear-running streams predominantly in forests. Tadpoles are either semiterrestrial in the spray zone or fully aquatic in zones of the strongest currents. Some species guard their clutches. They are small ('' Ericabatrachus'') or medium- to large-sized frogs ('' Arthroleptides'' and '' Petropedetes''). Taxonomy The Petropedetidae are related to true frogs, family Ranidae, and have often been considered as a subfamily within a broadly defined Ranidae. However, they are now commonly treated as a family, although the genera included may differ between sources. In particular, ''Conraua ''Conraua'', known as slippery frogs or giant frogs is a genus of large frogs from sub-Saharan Africa. ''Conraua'' is the only genus in the family Conrauidae. A ...

Fritz Nieden
Fritz Nieden (1883 – 1942) was a German zoologist who specialized in African herpetology. He worked as a zoologist at the ''Museum für Naturkunde'' in Berlin. His name is associated with Nieden's dwarf skink, '' Panaspis megalurus''. In 1911 he was the first to describe '' Callulina kreffti'', a species of frog, which until 2004 was the only known species of the genus ''Callulina''. The Sagala caecilian, ''Boulengerula niedeni'', is named after him. Selected writings *Die Amphibienfauna von Kamerun' (1908), Mitteilungen aus dem Zoologischen Museum in Berlin 3: 491–518 ("''Amphibian fauna of Cameroon''") *''Die Reptilien (außer den Schlangen) und Amphibien'', 1910 - Reptiles (other than snakes) and amphibians. *''Gymnophoina (Amphibia apoda)'', 1913 - Gymnophiona Caecilians (; ) are a group of limbless, vermiform or serpentine amphibians.
