Conor McGurk Cup
The Conor McGurk Cup is an annual hurling competition organised by the Ulster GAA, Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association. It has been held annually since 2018. The series of games are played during January. The McGurk Cup is effectively a pre-season tournament, allowing teams to experiment prior to the opening of the National Hurling League. The 2019 competition, the third year of the event, involved nine teams competing in three sections. The 2022 tournament involved seven teams, including both county teams and college teams. The Down county hurling team won the 2022 final, followed by Donegal in the 2023 competition. Down GAA
The Down County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae An Dún) or Down GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Down, Northern Ireland. The County Board is responsible for preparing the Down county teams in the various Gaelic sporting codes; football, hurling, camogie and handball. The county football team was the second from the province of Ulster to win an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC), following Cavan, and also the first team from Northern Ireland to win the Sam Maguire Cup since partition, doing so in 1960. Walsh Cup (hurling)
The Walsh Cup ( ga, Corn Bhreatnach) is an annual hurling competition staged in Ireland by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) since 1954. Contested by the top county teams from the provinces of Leinster, Ulster and Connacht, the tournament consists of a round-robin group stage, followed by a knockout stage. Formerly ponsored by Bord na Móna, it was known as the "Bord na Móna Walsh Cup". Prior to 2018, third-level colleges also competed. The Walsh Cup is part of a series of GAA tournaments known as the Leinster GAA Series, along with the Kehoe Cup (second-tier hurling teams) and the O'Byrne Cup (Gaelic football). Connacht Senior Hurling League
The Connacht Senior Hurling League is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Connacht Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association ( GAA) since 2022 for second and third-tier inter-county teams in the province of Connacht in Ireland. The competition runs each January. The league provides an opportunity for the county teams to select their panel for the year and prepare for the National Hurling League (NHL).
