Connirae Andreas is an American author and psychotherapist who is known for her work within the field of Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). Education Connirae Andreas studied undergraduate psychology at the University of Kansas in 1975. She obtained an MA in clinical psychology from the University of Colorado in 1979 and a PhD in psychotherapy from North Central University in 1989. Career She is the originator of the Core Transformation process which uses symptoms to bring a person into the interpersonal realm. Andreas taught and developed that process with her sister and co-author, Tamara Andreas. Their book ''Core Transformation'' has been published in 12 languages, and is an approach that has been described as "elegant", "fascinating", "profound", "pioneering", and "interesting". Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a pseudoscientific approach to communication, personal development and psychotherapy, that first appeared in Richard Bandler and John Grinder's 1975 book ''The Structure of Magic I''. NLP claims that there is a connection between neurological processes (''neuro-''), language (''linguistic'') and acquired behavioral patterns (''programming''), and that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life. Steve Andreas
Steve Andreas (born John O. Stevens; 1935 – September 7, 2018) was an American psychotherapist and author specializing in Neuro-linguistic programming. Steve Andreas was the son of Barry Stevens, a writer and gestalt therapist. He founded Real People Press, a publisher of works on psychology and personal change in 1967, in order to publish a book by Carl Rogers and Barry Stevens entitled ''Person to Person''. Andreas got a BA in chemistry from Caltech in 1957, then worked as a chemist at Shell. Afterwards he went to graduate school at Brandeis University under Abraham Maslow and received an MA degree in psychology in 1961. After working as an analytical chemist for the U.S. Bureau of Mines for a year, he got a junior college teaching credential, and taught psychology and social science at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill CA from 1962 to 1970. Richard Bandler
Richard Wayne Bandler (born 1950) is an American consultant in the field of self-help. With John Grinder, he founded the neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) approach to psychotherapy in the 1970s. Education and background Bandler was born in Teaneck, New Jersey and attended high school in Sunnyvale, California. He has stated that he was beaten as a child so badly that every bone in his body was broken. After his parents separated, he moved with his mother and stayed mostly in and around San Francisco. Bandler obtained a BA degree in philosophy and psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) in 1973, and an MA degree in psychology from Lone Mountain College in San Francisco in 1975. John Grinder
John Thomas Grinder Jr. ( ; born January 10, 1940) is an American linguist, author, management consultant, trainer and speaker. Grinder is credited with co-creating neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) with Richard Bandler. He is co-director of Quantum Leap Inc., a management consulting firm founded by his partner Carmen Bostic St. Clair in 1987 (Grinder joined in 1989). Grinder and Bostic St. Clair also run workshops and seminars on NLP internationally. Life and career Grinder graduated from the University of San Francisco with a B.A. degree in psychology in the early 1960s. Grinder then entered the United States Army and served as a captain in the US Special Forces in Europe during the Cold War; following this he went on to work for a US intelligence agency. Francis Michael "Frank" Bourke (3 February 1922 – 27 December 2011) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League during the 1940s. The Association for Neuro-Linguistic Programming (ANLP) is a UK organisation founded in 1985 by Frank Kevlin to promote neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). Since 2005, it has been led by Karen Moxom.
