Cornelius Neenan (7 August 1894 – 25 July 1979) was an Irish Hurling, hurler who played for Cork Senior Hurling Championship, Cork Senior Championship club St Finbarr's National Hurling & Football Club, St Finbarr's. He also had a brief career at senior level with the Cork county hurling team, Cork county team, during which he lined out at midfield. St Finbarr's National Hurling & Football Club
St Finbarr's National Hurling & Football Club or St Finbarr's Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Togher area of Cork city, County Cork, Ireland. St Finbarr's, who play in royal blue and gold jerseys, are the only club in Ireland to win All-Ireland club championships in both hurling and football. The club has won Cork County Senior Championships in every decade except the first decade of the 21st century. This record was almost upheld in 2009 when the club reached the final in the Cork County Senior Football Championship, only to lose out by a point to Clonakilty. Between 1980 and 1982, the club won three Cork County Hurling Championships in a row. This feat had not been repeated until Imokilly did so between 2017 and 2019. Lees GAA
Lees Football Club is a defunct Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club on the southside of Cork city, Ireland. The club was founded in 1886 and was primarily concerned with the game of Gaelic football. Cork County Hurling Team
The Cork county hurling team represents Cork in hurling and is governed by Cork GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League. Cork's home ground is Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Cork. The team's manager is (until recently) Kieran Kingston. The team last won the Munster Senior Championship in 2018, the All-Ireland Senior Championship in 2005 and the National League in 1998. Cork is regarded as one of "the big three" in hurling, with Kilkenny and Tipperary completing the trinity. The Lough, Cork
The Lough is the name of a suburb of Cork (city), Cork City, the electoral division in which it lies, the body of water that gives the area its name and a Roman Catholic parish of the same name. It lies on the south side of the city. The Lough is part of the Cork South-Central (Dáil constituency), Cork South-Central Dáil constituency. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. The Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork PSHC) is an annual club hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs and amalgamated teams in the county of Cork in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group and knockout format. It is the most prestigious competition in Cork hurling. Introduced in 1887 as the Cork Senior Hurling Championship, it was initially a straight knockout tournament open only to senior-ranking club teams, with its winner reckoned as the Cork county champion. 1919 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 1919 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 32nd staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 11 March 1919. The championship began on 6 April 1919 and ended on 14 September 1919. Carrigtwohill were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by St. Finbarr's in the second round. On 14 September 1919, St. Finbarr's won the championship following a 5–3 to 4–1 defeat of Blackrock in the final. This was their fifth championship title overall and their first title in 13 championship seasons. All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship
The All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship was a hurling competition organized by the Gaelic Athletic Association in Ireland. The competition was originally contested by the second teams of the strong counties, and the first teams of the weaker counties. In the years from 1961 to 1973 and from 1997 until now, the strong counties have competed for the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship instead. The competition was then restricted to the weaker counties. The competition was discontinued after 2004 as these counties now compete for the Nicky Rackard Cup instead. From 1974 to 1982, the original format of the competition was abandoned, and the competition was incorporated in Division 3 of the National Hurling League. The original format, including the strong hurling counties was re-introduced in 1983. Munster Junior Hurling Championship
The Munster Junior Hurling Championship is a junior "knockout" competition in the game of Hurling played in the province of Munster in Ireland. The series of games are organised by the Munster Council. The winners of the Munster Junior Hurling Championship each year progress to play the other provincial champions for a chance to win the All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship. Generally, the strong hurling counties have fielded their second team in this competition. In recent years though, they have participated in the Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship instead. The competition has been suspended and is unlikely to be re-established. In the years between 1961 and 1973 Kerry represented Munster in the All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship.
