Albert Clinton Conner (September 5, 1848 - April 13, 1929) was an American Impressionist painter who was an integral part of the Richmond Group of painters in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. After moving to California, Conner helped found The Painters' Club of Los Angeles in 1906, which lay the groundwork for the creation of the California Art Club three years later in 1909. Doyle Edward Conner Sr. (December 17, 1928 – December 16, 2012) was an American politician. He served as Florida Commissioner of Agriculture for 30 years, and also served as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. He was born in 1928 in Starke, Florida. Early life Conner was a fourth generation Floridian. From an early age, he worked in the family business of raising cattle, growing strawberries, and cutting timber. As a young man, Conner was active in 4-H, serving as president of the local and Alachua County branches of the club. Jean Conner Sandstedt (born 1933) is an American artist. Biography Jean Conner was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and earned her BFA from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, going on to earn her MFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Conner was part of the "Rat Bastard Collective". She married Bruce Conner in 1957. They moved to San Francisco. Conner has five works in the collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. John C. T. Conner (26 April 1898 – 1967) was a Scottish professional footballer. Conner, a wing-half, was born in Kirkmuirhill and began his career with Alloa Athletic. He moved onto Celtic and had a loan spell with Dykehead before joining Plymouth Argyle in 1925. Gary Lee Conner (born Lee Gary Conner, August 22, 1962) is an American rock musician, best known as the guitarist and primary songwriter for Screaming Trees. Career Originally from Ellensburg, Washington, Conner formed the band Explosive Generation with his brother Van Conner and Mark Pickerel in the early 1980s. That band later evolved into Screaming Trees with the addition of singer Mark Lanegan in 1985. The band moved to Seattle in the late 1980s to join that city's burgeoning alternative rock scene. Conner played on seven studio albums with Screaming Trees until the band split in 2000. Conner released the album ''Mystery Lane'' in 1990, under the group name The Purple Outside. Garlin Murl Conner (June 2, 1919 – November 5, 1998) was a United States Army technical sergeant and first lieutenant in the Second World War. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, four Silver Stars, and the French Croix de guerre for his heroic actions in Italy and France during the war. Frank Conner (born January 11, 1946) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, and Champions Tour. He was also an accomplished amateur tennis player. He, Ellsworth Vines and G. H. "Pete" Bostwick Jr. are the only men to play in the U.S. Open in both tennis and golf. Life and career Conner was born in Vienna, Austria, where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army. He competed in the U.S. Open in tennis in 1965, 1966, and 1967. He attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, graduating in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration. While at Trinity he was an All-American in tennis in 1968. Fox Conner (November 2, 1874 – October 13, 1951) was a major general of the United States Army. He served as operations officer for the American Expeditionary Force during World War I, and is best remembered as a mentor to the generation of officers who led the army in World War II, particularly as "the man who made Eisenhower". Early life Conner was born at Slate Springs, in Calhoun County, Mississippi. His father, Robert Herbert Conner, was a soldier in the Confederate States Army who was wounded several times during the American Civil War. In his final engagement, the Battle of Atlanta, Robert Conner was shot in the head and lost his sight. After the war he was nicknamed "Blind Bob".
