Route 145 is a state highway in the western part of the Connecticut River Estuary region of Connecticut. It connects Clinton center, through the village of Winthrop, to the town of Chester. Route description Route 145 begins at an intersection with US 1 in Clinton and heads northeast, into Westbrook. In Westbrook, it turns north, intersecting with I-95 and passing by the Messerschmidt Pond Wildlife Area, before continuing into the town of Deep River. In Deep River, it continues north through the Winthrop section of the town, briefly overlapping Route 80 before continuing into Chester. In Chester, it continues north and northeast, curving around Chester Airport before ending at an intersection with Route 148 within the Cockaponset State Forest. Connecticut Route 80 is a 25.9 mile highway that runs through south-central Connecticut. The west end is at CT 17 in Quinnipiac Meadows neighborhood of New Haven, and the east end is at CT 154 in Deep River. Route 80 runs within 5 miles of many town squares- including Downtown New Haven. Cockaponset State Forest
Cockaponset State Forest is the second largest forest in the Connecticut state forest system, encompassing over of land. Most of the land is in Middlesex County though some parcels lie in New Haven County. The forest is disjointed, and comprises land in the towns of Haddam, Chester, Deep River, Killingworth, Durham, Guilford, Madison, Clinton, Westbrook, Middletown and Middlefield. History Acquisition of forest parcels began in 1926. Two Civilian Conservation Corps camps were active in the forest in the 1930s constructing roads and planting conifers. The forest was named after a Native American chief buried in Haddam. Route 148 is a state highway in southern and southeastern Connecticut running from Route 79 in Killingworth (near the Durham line) to Route 82 in the village of Hadlyme (in the town of Lyme). Route 148 crosses the Connecticut River using the Chester–Hadlyme Ferry.
