Connecticut's 140th Assembly District
Connecticut's 140th House district is one of 151 Connecticut House of Representatives districts. It is currently represented by Travis Simms. The district consists of the central part of the city of Norwalk. List of representatives Prior to redistricting in 1972, Otha Brown Jr. represented the 148th District and John Fabrizio represented the 147th. The redistricting formed the 140th from the old 148th, 147th and part of the 145th District. This forced a contest between the two incumbents. Brown was defeated by Fabrizio in the November 1972 election. Travis Simms
Travis Simms (born 1 May 1971) is a Democratic member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, where he represents the 140th Assembly District. The district consists of the central part of the city of Norwalk. He previously served on Norwalk's Common Council. Prior to his political career he was a professional boxer in the super welterweight (154 lb) division. Background Simms is a native of the South Norwalk section of Norwalk, Connecticut. His childhood street bears his name "Travis Simms Way". He is currently a member of the Norwalk Common Council. His identical twin brother, Tarvis Simms, is also a fighter. Bruce Morris
Bruce V. Morris was a six-term Democratic member of the Connecticut House of Representatives representing Norwalk, Connecticut in the 140th assembly district from 2007 to 2019. He was deputy speaker of the House of Representatives and on the following committees: finance revenue and bonding; judiciary; human services; legislative management. He was named assistant majority whip during his second term and served in that capacity until his promotion to deputy majority whip in 2012. Joseph E. Mann (born 1955) is a former two-term member of the Connecticut House of Representatives from Norwalk, Connecticut's 140th assembly district. He served in the Connecticut House from 2003 to 2007. He also served nine years on the Norwalk Common Council, including as its president. Joseph Clemmons
Joseph D. Clemmons, Sr. (born 1929) is a former three term Democratic member of the Connecticut House of Representatives from Norwalk, Connecticut's 140th assembly district from 1997 to 2003. He also served on the Norwalk Common Council beginning in 1995. Early life and family He is the son of Frank Clemmons, founder of the First Church of God In Christ in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Long Island University and Howard University. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Colgate Rochester Divinity School. Donnie R. Sellers Sr. (born November 20, 1944, in Norwalk, Connecticut) is a former Democratic member of the Connecticut House of Representatives from Norwalk, Connecticut's 140th assembly district.
