The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise or Swedish Enterprise ( sv, Svenskt Näringsliv) is a major employers' organization for private sector and business sector companies in Sweden. It has 49 member associations representing 60,000 member companies with more than 1.6 million employees. History The current organisation is the result of a merger between the Swedish Employers Association ( sv, Svenska Arbetsgivareföreningen, abbreviated SAF) and the Swedish National Federation of Industry ( sv, Sveriges Industriförbund) that was completed in March 2001. Policy Like its predecessors, the organisation is actively lobbying for pro-business interests. Tax cuts, especially the abolition of property and inheritance taxes, is a main priority. Leif Albert Östling (born 25 September 1945) is a Sweden, Swedish chief executive officer and former head of the Scania AB truck company, owned by the German Volkswagen Group. In spring 2016, he was appointed Chairman of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, a post he left in advance in November 2017. Niels Michael Aage Treschow (born April 22, 1943) is a Swedish businessman. As chairman of the board of both Unilever since 2007 and the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, and former chairman of Ericsson, Treschow is one of the most influential people in Swedish business today. Early life Michael Treschow was born on April 22, 1943, in Helsingborg, Skåne län, Sweden. His father was a major in the Swedish Army. Urban Bäckström (born 25 May 1954, Sollefteå, Västernorrlands län) is a Sweden, Swedish economist who was CEO of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise from 2005 to 2014 and governor of the Bank of Sweden from 1994 to 2002. Personal Bäckström grew up in Visby and Helsingborg and graduated with a degree in economics from Stockholm University. He is married to Ewa, who works for Scandinavian Airlines System, SAS.
