Ajoy Biswas
Ajoy Biswas is an Indian politician from Tripura, and former member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)). Political career Biswas started in politics by becoming an independent MLA in 1972. He was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly in Tripura, defeating the Indian National Congress MLA in the elections of 1977. Biswas gradually moved to national politics and was elected as a member of the Indian Parliament's 7th and 8th Lok Sabha from 1980 to 1989. Biswas was a trade union activist in Tripura and founded several trade unions there, including the Tripura Employees Coordination Committee, and the Tripura branches of the AITUC, and the DYFI. He also held important positions in several workers' unions in the state. After the split of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in 1964, the CPI-M came to be known as the party of the tribals in the state of Tripura. Orissa Communist Party
The Odisha Communist Party is a political party in the Indian state of Odisha. OCP was formed in the beginning of the 1990s as a splinter group of Communist Party of India (Marxist). The party is led by Ajeya RouWhen the split occurred the dissidents tried to capture the trade union structure of CPI(M) in the mining areas in northern Odisha. This led to violent conflict. But the OCP-ers themselves came from southern Odisha, and they were not able to convince the northern grassroots to follow them. In the end the OCP-ers had to leave the mining areas. The Marxist Manch (Marxist Platform) is a political party in Assam, India, which emerged as a local splinter group of Communist Party of India (Marxist). Janganotantrik Morcha
Janganotantrik Morcha (People's Democratic Front) is a political party in the Indian state of Tripura. PDF was formed by Ajoy Biswas, a former member of the Lok Sabha of Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)). Biswas broke out of CPI(M) against ideological differences with then Chief Minister Nripen Chakraborty. The PDF-breakaway affected the teachers movement of CPI(M) in the state. Both teachers organizations of CPI(M), Tripura Government Teachers Association (state schools) and Tripura Teachers Association (private schools) were divided. The CPI(M) loyalists were called TGTA (H.G.B. Road) and TTA (H.G.B. Road) whereas the followers of Biswas were called TGTA (Ajoy Biswas) and TTA (Ajoy Biswas).
