''Concrete Cowboys'' is a 1979 American Western television pilot film starring Jerry Reed and Tom Selleck, directed by Burt Kennedy. It was broadcast on CBS on October 17, 1979. It was followed in 1981 by a television series starring Reed and Geoffrey Scott with the same title. ''Concrete Cowboy'' is a 2020 American drama film directed by Ricky Staub from a screenplay by Staub and Dan Walser. The movie is based on the novel ''Ghetto Cowboy'' by Greg Neri, which was inspired by the real urban African-American horseriding culture of Philadelphia, and in particular, the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club. The film stars Idris Elba, Caleb McLaughlin, Jharrel Jerome, Byron Bowers, Lorraine Toussaint, Jamil Prattis and Clifford "Method Man" Smith. While the film is completely fictional, several real members of the Fletcher Street riding community play supporting characters who give voice to real issues that the community faces. Gene Evans
Eugene Barton Evans (July 11, 1922 – April 1, 1998) was an American actor who appeared in numerous television series, television films, and feature films between 1947 and 1989. Early life Evans was born in Holbrook, Arizona and raised in Colton, California. Right after finishing high school, he began performing in summer stock at the Penthouse Theatre in Altadena, California. Evans served in the United States Army during World War II and achieved the rank of sergeant. He performed with a theatrical troupe of GIs in Europe. Career Evans made his film debut in the 1947 film '' Under Colorado Skies'' as Henchman Red, and appeared in dozens of films and television programs.
