Concordia University School of Law was a private law school in Boise, Idaho. It admitted its first class of 75 students in August 2012. The school was part of Concordia University (Portland, Oregon), Concordia University, a private Lutheran university based in Portland, Oregon. Concordia Law was the second law school in Idaho and the first in Boise, residing in a university-owned campus at 501 West Front Street near the Idaho State Capitol. Concordia Law closed at the end of the Summer 2020 term in connection with the closure of its parent institution. The University of Idaho College of Law is the law school of the University of Idaho, with its main location in Moscow and a second campus in the state capital of Boise. As of the entering class of 2017–18, students may take all three years of instruction at either location. The UI College of Law was established in 1909, has been a member of the Association of American Law Schools since 1914 and has been accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) since 1925. The Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College (also known as Lewis & Clark Law School), is an American Bar Association-approved private law school in Portland, Oregon. Concordia University, St. Paul is a private university in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It was founded in 1893 and enrolls nearly 5,600 students. It is a member of the Concordia University System, which is operated by the second-largest Lutheran church body in the United States, the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. Cathy Silak
Cathy R. Silak (born May 25, 1950) is the former dean of the Concordia University School of Law in Boise, Idaho. She is a former justice of the Idaho Supreme Court and the Idaho Court of Appeals. Silak graduated from New York University in New York City with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and French literature, then attended the University of California in Berkeley, earning her Juris Doctor in 1976 from its School of Law (Boalt Hall). After working in private practice in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. and as a U.S. attorney in New York City, she moved west to Idaho, her husband's home state, in 1983. At age 40, Silak was appointed by Governor Cecil Andrus to the Court of Appeals in August 1990, the first woman to serve on Idaho's second-highest court. The Idaho Supreme Court is the state supreme court of Idaho and is composed of the chief justice and four associate justices. The decisions of the Idaho Supreme Court are binding on all other Idaho state courts. The only court that may reverse or modify its decisions is the Supreme Court of the United States.
