Concord High School (North Carolina)
Concord High School is a public high school in Concord, North Carolina, United States. First opened on September 2, 1895 (one session held in fall 1893), it is the oldest public high school in Cabarrus County and one of the oldest extant in North Carolina. It became part of Cabarrus County Schools in 1983 when Concord City Schools merged with the county school system. It is also a half regular high school and half IB high school History The Concord City Schools were created on May 2, 1891, upon passage of a citywide voter referendum. The system began with a single school building, the Concord Graded School (a pre-existing private academy purchased for the public school use), which first opened in December 1891. Concord is the county seat and largest city in Cabarrus County, in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 105,186, with an estimated population in 2021 of 107,697. Jack Daniel (real name Shane Atwell) is a DJ and radio professional who has worked in Charlotte, North Carolina radio since the mid-1970s. Career While Shane Atwell was a student at Concord High School in Concord, North Carolina, he worked at the student radio station. As a computer science major at East Carolina University, he devoted much of his time to working at the campus radio station there, and he dropped out in 1975. Lance Lewis (born November 1, 1988) is a former American football wide receiver. He was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and, following a successful tryout, returned to the team in 2013. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football team based in Tampa, Florida. Jimmy Davis Hitchcock, Jr. (born November 9, 1970) is a former American football cornerback in the National Football League. He was drafted in the third round of the 1995 NFL Draft by the Patriots. Jay Graham (born July 14, 1975) is an American football coach and former running back who is formerly the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at the University of Alabama. Playing career Playing for Concord High School from 1990–92, Graham was a nationally recruited running back who broke school records in single-season and career rushing in his two and one half seasons with the Spiders. Named All-State and All-American, Graham signed a football scholarship with the University of Tennessee in 1992. Cydney Clanton (born July 18, 1989) is an American professional golfer who has played on the LPGA Tour and the Symetra Tour. She has won twice on the Symetra Tour and once on the LPGA Tour.
