Conceição Rodrigues
José Rodrigues da Conceição (born 7 May 1919) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a half-back. Rodrigues joined Benfica in 1940, winning two league titles in his three seasons there. Career Rodrigues arrived at Benfica at the hands of Janos Biri, making his debut on 6 October 1940, against Carcavelinhos. With Albino, Raúl Baptista and César Ferreira as competitors, he was relegated to back-up, playing only 9 league games, but appearing in all of the Campeonato de Lisboa games. In his second season, he remained a fringe player, receiving the majority of his playing time in the regional league, as Benfica won the Primeira Liga. Conceição last season was in 1942–43, playing only two games, enough to receive the championship medal for the back-to-back league title that his team won. Midfielder
A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. As central midfielders often go across boundaries, with mobility and passing ability, they are often referred to as deep-lying midfielders, play-makers, box-to-box midfielders, or holding midfielders. There are also attacking midfielders with limited defensive assignments. The size of midfield units on a team and their assigned roles depend on what formation is used; the unit of these players on the pitch is commonly referred to as the midfield. Francisco Alves Albino
Francisco Alves Albino (2 November 1912 – 25 February 1993), best known as Albino, was a Portuguese footballer who played as a midfielder. Over the course of 13 seasons, he amassed Primeira Liga totals of 172 games and twelve goals, spending the all of his career at Benfica, winning nine major titles. Career Club Born in Tortosendo, a village in the vicinity of the Serra da Estrela, Albino arrived at Benfica at the age of 17, under Arthur John reign, to represent the youth teams. A slender, but hard-working footballer; at 20 years old, manager Ribeiro dos Reis gave him, an opportunity with the first team, when they faced Braga Regional team in a friendly on 26 December 1932. His official debut came twelve days later, in a home win against F.C. Barreirense. Raúl Baptista
Raúl Baptista (born 29 July 1911) was a Portuguese footballer who played as a half-back. Starting at Barreirense, where he spent seven years, Baptista achieved recognition at Benfica, appearing in nearly 100 games and winning four major titles. Career Baptista arrived at Benfica in 1935 after seven seasons with Barreirense. He made his debut on 24 November, against Belenenses. With competition from João Correia, Albino and Gaspar Pinto, he only racked up 9 appearances, two in the Primeira Liga, allowing him to win his first league title. In the following year, he displaced Correia out of the first team and played 25 games on the way to back-to-back league titles. A year later, he completed a championship three-peat as regular first team, playing in all the league games and making 28 appearances in total.
