Con Murphy (Valley Rovers Hurler)
Cornelius "Con" Murphy (28 October 1922 – 29 April 2007) was an Irish hurler who played as a full-back at senior level for the Cork county team. Murphy joined the team during the 1942 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1951 championship. During that time, he won four All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals, and one National League medal. Murphy was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Murphy had a lengthy career with Valley Rovers while he also played with divisional side Carrigdhoun. Once retired from playing, Murphy became a referee at the highest levels. He also served as a Gaelic games administrator with the Cork County Board before assuming the office of President of the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1976. Valley Rovers
Valley Rovers GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in the parish of Innishannon in County Cork, Ireland. The club was formed in 1919 when two teams in the parish, Innishannon and Knockavilla, came together. The club fields teams in hurling, camogie, Gaelic football and Ladies' football. It participates in the Carrigdhoun division of Cork GAA. As of 2020, the club were playing at Premier senior level in football and Premier intermediate level in hurling. CBS Sexton Street
CBS Sexton Street is a Christian Brothers secondary school located in Limerick, Ireland. The school has approximately 500 students. The current principal is Denis O'Connor, and the current vice principal is Elaine O'Connell. History Colaiste Mhichil was founded by Edmund Rice, a Christian Brother, to provide education for boys in Limerick city. Their numbers having declined, the Christian Brothers no longer have day-to-day involvement in the administration of the school. Instead, a lay principal and board of management manage the school with the Christian Brothers remaining as trustees. The school has been successful in soccer, having won the senior boys' FAI All Ireland soccer championship in 2007 and 2008. Terry Leahy (hurler)
Thaddeus Leahy (9 March 1917 – November 1988) was an Irish people, Irish sportsperson. He played hurling at various times with his local clubs Emeralds in Kilkenny and Faughs in Dublin. Leahy was also a member of both the Kilkenny and Dublin senior inter-county teams from 1938 until 1949. Playing career Club Leahy played his club hurling with his local Emeralds club in Urlingford, however, he enjoyed little success with the club and never won a senior county title. Leahy later played club hurling with the Faughs club in Dublin and he won seven county titles. Inter-county Leahy first came to prominence on the inter-county scene as a member of the Kilkenny minor team in the 1930s. He won a Leinster title in this grade in 1935 before later lining out in the minor championship decider. Joe Kelly (hurler)
Fr. Joseph Kelly (1923 – June 1994) was an Irish hurler who played as a left corner-forward for the Cork senior team. Kelly joined the team during the 1943 championship and later became a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement following the conclusion of the 1947 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland medals and three Munster medals. Kelly was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Kelly played with the famous Glen Rovers. Playing career Club Kelly played his club hurling with the famous Glen Rovers club on the north side of Cork city. He enjoyed little success at minor level before joining the club’s senior team. Mossy O'Riordan
Maurice Francis "Mossy" O'Riordan (1926 - 27 August 2008) was an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-forward for the Cork senior team. Born in Blackrock, County Cork, O'Riordan first played with the Cork senior team at the age of twenty. He made his debut during the 1946 championship. O'Riordan became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won two All-Ireland medals and three Munster medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions O'Riordan won two Railway Cup medals. At club level he played with Blackrock. Christy Ring
Nicholas Christopher Michael Ring (30 October 1920 – 2 March 1979) was an Irish hurling, hurler whose National Hurling League, league and All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, championship career at senior level with the Cork county hurling team, Cork county team spanned twenty-four years from 1939 to 1963. Glen Rovers GAA
Glen Rovers is a Cork (city), Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Blackpool, Cork, Ireland. The club was founded in 1916 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. They were Cork senior hurling champions in 2015 and 2016, having won their first title in 26 years in 2015. They retained the championship in 2016, when they beat Erin's Own in the final.
