Con McGrath
Michael Cornelius McGrath (1924 – 9 August 2008) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for numerous club sides, but most notably St Finbarr's and Garda, and at senior level with the Galway and Cork county teams. Career McGrath first made an impression on the Gaelic football field when at college in Multyfarnham he lined out for the local club's senior and junior teams. From there he went to University College Galway where he won a Sigerson Cup title as well as winning a West Galway Championship with Erin's Hopes. McGrath first played for the Galway senior football team in a challenge match against Roscommon in 1943. After moving to Cork he joined the St Finbarr's club before filling the full-back position on the Cork junior team in 1947. Promotion to the senior team quickly followed and he won his first Munster Championship in 1949. All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. Each tournament ends with a final, played by the 35th Sunday of the year at Croke Park in Dublin, with the winning team receiving the Sam Maguire Cup. Paul McGrath (Gaelic Footballer)
Paul McGrath (born 23 May 1966) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. In a career that spanned two decades he played at club level with Bishopstown and at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team. Career McGrath first came to prominence at underage level with Bishopstown before spending over a decade lining out for the club's senior team. He first appeared on the inter-county scene as a member of the Cork under-21 team, winning successive All-Ireland Under-21 Championship titles in 1985 and 1986. McGrath subsequently joined the Cork senior football team and won the first of five Munster Championship title in his debut season in 1988. He later added a National League title to his collection before claiming successive All-Ireland medals at right corner-forward in 1989 and 1990. McGrath was an All-Star-winner for the latter victory. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). A captain of a Gaelic games team, sometimes known as a ''skipper'', is a player who, during the course of a match as well as before and after it, has several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of his teammates. Tradition means that some teams rotate the captaincy annually, though others may adopt a permanent captain. As well as being an onfield leader, a captain takes the coin toss and raises the trophy when this is the game's prize. Responsibilities The captain leads the team out onto the pitch. Before the start of a match, a coin toss between captains of the opposing teams is used to determine which end of the ground each team will kick to. The Munster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship and shortened to Munster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).
