Computing Today
''Computing Today'' was a computer magazine published by Argus Specialist Publications, it was printed in the UK from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. It began life as a supplement to ''Electronics Today International'' for four issues and became an independent publication in March 1979. Some time after 1982 it bought out rival computing magazine ''Microcomputer Printout'' (formerly ''Printout'') and the two magazines merged into one. The magazine ceased publication in September 1985. A tutorial, in education, is a method of transferring knowledge and may be used as a part of a learning process. Use cases Listings are commonly used in education and computer-related books to show examples of code. In the early days of programming, it was used to hand-check a program and as permanent storage. Argus Press was a British publishing company. It was acquired by British Electric Traction (BET) in 1966, and became the publishing arm of that company. It was the subject of one of the most hotly contested management buyouts of the 1980s when a management team led by Kimble Earl, George Fowkes, and Scott Smith secured financing of £207m from forty national and international banks to acquire the UK and US businesses from BET. The acquisition was of particular note as the publisher Robert Maxwell was among the rival bidders, and widely considered as capable of out-witting the management team.
