Company 3 (CO3) is an American post-production company founded in 1997 by colorists Stefan Sonnenfeld and Mike Pethel and visual effects artist/supervisor Noel Castley-Wright. Rob Walston brought the team of artists together and funded Company 3 under 4 Media Company (4MC). Company 3 provides post production, color grading and location services for feature films, commercials, music videos and television. History Sonnenfeld, Pethel and Castley-Wright opened Company 3 in Santa Monica, CA in 1997 and launched a New York, NY location in 2002. In 2010, Company 3 New York moved into a new facility located in Chelsea, Manhattan which houses both Company 3 and its sister visual effects facility, Method Studios. Post Production
Post-production is part of the process of filmmaking, video production, audio production, and photography. Post-production includes all stages of production occurring after principal photography or recording individual program segments. The first part of the post-production process is the traditional non-linear (analog) film editing at the outset of post-production has mostly been replaced by digital or video editing software that operates as a non-linear editing (NLE) system. The advantage of being able to have this non-linear capacity is in the flexibility for editing scenes out of order, making creative changes at will, carefully shaping the film in a thoughtful, meaningful way for emotional effect. Framestore is a British animation, visual effects company and creative studio based on Chancery Lane in London. Formed in 1986, it acquired (and subsequently merged with) the Computer Film Company in 1997. Stefan Sonnenfeld
Stefan Sonnenfeld is an American Digital Intermediate (DI) colorist, co-founder and president of post-production house Company 3, and president of VFX house Method Studios. He has performed color grading/color correction on many commercials and feature films including the Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers franchises. Career Sonnenfeld grew up in Los Angeles and after a summer job delivering dailies for popular 80s series ''Miami Vice'' his interest in post production was ignited. He worked at Pacific Ocean Post during the 1990s. Described by NPR as a "da Vinci of the movies," Sonnenfeld has worked as a DI colorist for films including ''Watchmen, Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, 300, Sweeney Todd'' and ''Dreamgirls''.
