Liberia (), officially the Republic of Liberia, is a country on the West African coast. Chocolate City, Liberia
Chocolate City is a central-northern suburb of Monrovia, Liberia. It is located in the New Georgia Township. Chocolate City contains the Elizabeth Blunt School and Francis Freeman Elementary School. During the Second Liberian Civil War in 1999–2003, the area was war torn, and "rape, murder and plunder" happened every night in Chocolate City. Hundreds of thousands of refugees hid in churches, schools and houses and many thousands died. Chocolate City contains two communities, Chocolate City A and Chocolate City B. New Georgia, Liberia
New Georgia is a township in Montserrado County, Liberia that was first settled by Africans who had been taken from slave ships seized or wrecked near the United States and then sent to Liberia after several years had passed. History In July 1827 a ship named ''Norfolk'' carried 131, 143 or 144 Africans to Liberia from the United States, of whom 78 were adult women and another eleven or twelve were under ten years of age. One hundred twenty of those people had been found on the slave ship ''Antelope'' when it was seized off the coast of Florida in 1820. They had been held in Georgia for seven years waiting for the courts to settle their fate. After being kept under supervision in Monrovia for a while, the people from the ''Antelope'' were settled along Stockton Creek on Bushrod Island about four miles up the Mesurado River from Monrovia. Gardnersville
Gardnersville or Gardnesville is a township in the Greater Monrovia District, Liberia. During the Liberian Civil War, the area was war torn and thousands of refugees hid in buildings in Gardnersville and Chocolate City. On 20 October 1992, two American nuns from the Precious Blood order were ambushed by soldiers of the National Patriotic Front of Liberia and murdered and had their vehicle stolen.
