Linda Isle, Newport Beach
Linda Isle is a part of the Lower Bay of Newport Beach, California. In 1954, Linda Isle became the last island to be incorporated into the city of Newport Beach, and it was in this period that the entire city, including the islands, began to change from a resort to a residential community. Linda Island is laid out in the shape of a horseshoe, and each home has its own dock. The island is not accessible to the public. Notable early residents included Gary Primm, along with his yacht the "Prima Donna", which was a notable fixture for many years. Other notable Linda Island residents also included Todd "Doc" Raleigh. Upper Newport Bay
The Upper Newport Bay (known locally as "The Back Bay") is a large coastal wetland (an estuary) in Newport Beach, Southern California and a major stopover for birds on the Pacific Flyway. Dozens of species, including endangered ones, can be observed here. Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve and Ecological Reserve represent approximately 1,000 acres (4 km2) of open space. The Upper Newport Bay was purchased by the state in 1975 for its Fish and Wildlife Department's Ecological Reserve System. In 1985 the upper west bluffs and lands surrounding the bay became part of an Orange County regional park, which offers outdoor activities such as bird-watching, jogging, bicycling, hiking, and kayaking. Santa Ana Heights is a community in Orange County, California. The eastern part is located within the city limits of Newport Beach. The community is surrounded by John Wayne Airport and Costa Mesa. Santa Ana Heights is zoned for more moderate income families, which provides for more modest homes in Newport Beach. It is generally a residential area, with a variety of housing types to suit all families that live in the Santa Ana area. The name is referred to the small foothills that the area is set on. The unincorporated part of Santa Ana Heights has been a subject of an annexation debate between Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. Orange County found Santa Ana to be the most well equipped city to care for the community, but a vote in 2002 removed this as a possibility. Harbor Island is a small artificial island in Newport Beach, California. Newport Harbor is a semi-artificial harbor that was formed by dredging an estuary during the early 1900s. Collins Island, Newport Beach
Collins Island is a part of Balboa Island in Newport Beach, California. In 1902, James McFadden sold his Newport townsite and about half of the peninsula to William S. Collins, who saw Newport Bay's resort and recreation potential. Collins took on Henry E. Huntington as a partner in the Newport Beach Company.
