The Communauté de communes du Saulnois ( Community of communes of Saulnois) is a federation of municipalities of the rural Saulnois region, located in the department of Moselle in Eastern France. Château-Salins
Château-Salins (; , from 1941–44 ''Salzburgen'') is a commune in the Moselle department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. Until 2015, Château-Salins was a subprefecture of the Moselle department. History The town is relatively recent. The territory on which the castle, and later the town, was built was part of the domains of the bishopric of Metz. Legend has it that pilgrims on their way to Saint-Nicolas-de-Port discovered a salt spring. Around 1340, the regent Elisabeth of Austria, widow of Duke Ferry IV, had a castle built to protect the exploitation of this spring. In order to control the ducal building, Bishop Adhémar de Monteil also had a fortress built, which he named Beaurepaire, at some distance from there. Chicourt
Chicourt (; german: Diexingen) is a commune in the Moselle department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. Geography Chicourt lies in Saulnois, 34 kilometers northeast of Nancy, 32 kilometers southeast of Metz, and 26 kilometers southwest of Saint-Avold. Neighboring towns are Château-Bréhain in the southeast, Oron in the south west, Frémery in the northwest, and Villers-sur-Nied in the Northeast. Chicourt sits at an altitude between 239 and 340 meters above sea level. The area of the commune is around 5.52 square kilometers (552 hectares). The commune's territory is bounded on the south by the Nied française river.
