Common Existence
''Common Existence'' is the fifth full-length album from rock band Thursday. Recording In March 2008, the band spent sometime recording at Big Blue Meenie Recording Studio in Jersey City, New Jersey. On August 13, 2008, the band announced that they had begun recording their next album with producer Dave Fridmann, who had previously produced '' A City by the Light Divided'' (2006). Recording took place at Fridmann's Tarbox Road Studios. The album was completed in November, with mixing being done that same month. Composition and lyrics The album includes the track "As He Climbed The Dark Mountain," which previously appeared on the band's split EP with Japanese hardcore band Envy. The song "Last Call" originates from 2005 when five demos were leaked. While the first four were released on '' A City by the Light Divided'', "Last Call" had not been released up until now. Thursday (band)
Thursday is an American post-hardcore band formed in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1997. The band consists of Geoff Rickly (lead vocals), Tom Keeley (lead guitar, backing vocals), Steve Pedulla (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Tim Payne (bass), and Tucker Rule (drums). The band's debut album ''Waiting (Thursday album), Waiting'' (1999) featured original guitarist Bill Henderson, who left in 2000 and was replaced by Pedulla. Thursday gained popularity with their second album ''Full Collapse'' (2001), and the band's major-label debut ''War All the Time (Thursday album), War All the Time'' (2003) debuted at number 7 on the US Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200. Geoff Rickly
Geoffrey William Rickly (born March 8, 1979) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and author, best known as the lead singer and songwriter of rock band Thursday. Rickly is also a member of hardcore punk band United Nations, and the alternative rock group No Devotion with former members of Lostprophets, and is the founder of the record label Collect Records. In 2023, his debut novel, ''Someone Who Isn’t Me'', was published by Rose Books. Personal life Rickly was born in Providence, Rhode Island and raised in Dumont, New Jersey, into a Catholic family, and attended Dumont High School, where he was a member of the band and played the tenor sax. He attended Rutgers University until 2000 before dropping out to pursue music. Rickly is a diagnosed epileptic, which has affected his ability to tour. The Fall of Troy is an American post-hardcore band from Mukilteo, Washington. The band is a trio consisting of Thomas Erak (guitars, vocals, keyboards), Andrew Forsman (drums, percussion), and Jon-Henry "Hendo" Batts (bass, screamed vocals). When the group started their bassist was Tim Ward, who was later replaced by Frank Ene following his departure from the band in late 2007. Ene would remain in the band until their initial breakup in 2010, but Ward rejoined the band in Ene's place for their reunion in 2013. Ward once again left the band in 2016, and was later replaced by Just Like Vinyl bassist Jon-Henry "Hendo" Batts. ''AbsolutePunk'' was a website, online community, and alternative music news source founded by Jason Tate (the most recent CEO). The website mainly focused on artists who are relatively unknown to mainstream audiences, but it was known to feature artists who have eventually achieved crossover success, for example, Blink-182 and Fall Out Boy. The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house. Give It A Name
Give it a Name, also known as GIAN (and Give It a Name Incoming in 2009), named after an At the Drive-In song, was an annual British rock music festival, normally held on the weekend nearest to the end of April. The first festival took place on 2 May 2005 at Alexandra Palace, North London. In 2006, Give it a Name became a paired, two-day festival, taking place at the MEN Arena, Manchester, and Earl's Court, London. 2007 saw the festival extend to three days and six different locations, including events for the first time in Scotland, France and Germany. The festival tended to feature post-hardcore, indie rock and alternative bands. Give It a Name went ahead in 2009 despite the controversy of it possibly being cancelled. Taste of Chaos (or "TOC") was a live music tour that was started in the winter of 2005 by Kevin Lyman, the creator of the successful Warped Tour along with his friend and business partner, John Reese. The Taste of Chaos tour catered to fans of the post-hardcore, emo, pop punk and metalcore genres, while offering the same low ticket price and festival-style format as the Warped Tour.
