Commemoration (Anglicanism)
Commemorations are a type of Religious Observance, religious observance in the many Churches of the Anglican Communion, including the Church of England. They are the least significant type of observance, the others being Principal Feasts, Principal Holy Days, Festival (Church of England), Festivals, and Lesser Festivals. Whereas Principal Feasts must be celebrated, it is not obligatory to observe Commemorations. In ''Common Worship'' Commemorations are not provided with collects or indications of liturgical colour. However, they may be celebrated as Lesser Festivals if local pastoral conditions suggest it. Examples of Commemorations in the Church of England *10 January: William Laud, Archbishop of Canterbury 1633- 1645 *18 January: Amy Carmichael, Founder of the Dohnavur Fellowship, spiritual writer, 1951 *20 January: Richard Rolle of Hampole, Spiritual Writ ... In Mass, the prayers used are the collect, the prayer over the offerings and the prayer after Communion. Furthermore, before the decree ''Cum nostra hac aetate'' of 1955, in the Liturgy of the Hours the verse of the short responsory in Prime and the doxology of hymns of a commemorated feast that had special ("proper") fo ... Memorialization
Memorialization generally refers to the process of preserving memories of people or events. It can be a form of address or petition, or a ceremony of remembrance or commemoration. Memorialization as a human right Memorialization is a universal need for both those being memorialized and those who are grieving. Although historically it was limited to the elite and only practiced in the highest societal classes, it is now almost considered a fundamental human right for all people. Memorialization and transitional justice In the context of transitional justice, memorialization is used to honor the victims of human rights abuses. Memorials can help governments reconcile tensions with victims by demonstrating respect and acknowledging the past. They can also help to establish a record of history, and to prevent the recurrence of abuse. Memorials can also be serious social and political forces in democracy-building efforts. Memorials are also a form of reparations, or compensation ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
